What is Estimated 2022 federal total tax liability (form 1040, line 24), if I only have a W2 which only lists upto line 20? Can anyone answer this please.

What is, or what does it mean, Estimated 2022 federal total tax liability (form 1040, line 24), if I only have a W2 which only lists upto line 20? I am trying to file an extension.

On a 2022 Form 1040 Line 24 is Your Total Tax.  It is the sum of Lines 22 and 23.

IRS 2022 Form 1040 - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf

To view your Form 1040 using the TurboTax online editions -

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

It's not asking about your W-2. It's asking about your Form 1040. To preview your 1040 in TurboTax and see line 24:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account
  2. Open or continue your return
  3. Select Tax Tools from the menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner)
  4. With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
    • Preview your entire return: Select Print Center and then Print, save or preview this year's return (you may be asked to register or pay first)
    • View only your 1040 form: Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu
