After a software update, Turbo Tax Home & Business 2021 for Mac (download) is crashing immediately after clicking the app icon. It was operating fine before this latest update.

TurboTax for Mac won't open when installed
I had same issue 2 weeks ago. Spent 2 1/2 hours on phone with technical support. They finally said it is happening to multiple users and is a bug. I get a pop up window for 2-3 seconds upon launch, "Please wait while we verify everything is up to date...".
We tried everything.
Computer reboot 2x
Delete App and download again 2x
A new license
Switch from WiFi to Ethernet (Like that was going to do anything)
Nothing worked. Two weeks later same issue
I am having the same issue. I completed and e-filed 2 returns one day and the next day all I got was the "Please wait while we verify everything is up to date..."pop-up for 2 seconds. The TT agent sent me a fresh product link, but still the same problem. Very frustrating.
It would be best to give us a call so we can look into this further.
Please follow the instructions here to contact us by phone.
Carissa, While I appreciate your intent, you already can look into this issue -- it has become a widespread problem and is described online by many disappointed TT users.
I, and many others writing in here and on Apple's site, have spent hours on the phone with TurboTax representatives who have tried their best, but clearly there is a bug in the TurboTax software and your software developers need to fix it, and fix it now.
Is this also happening to you after a recent update? @KatieY.
Hi EbonyA — when the crashes started, I called TT. One agent asked if my Mac was fully updated, so I updated it (to Monterey 12.3) then reinstalled TT, and it crashed again. I have also deleted the cache in Library, as has been suggested, but no improvement.
I just got off the phone (yet again) with Intuit support. Since the product clearly has a "bug" and will not work on a Mac, I asked the agent to give me a PC version so that I can use my laptop (Windows) instead.
She told me she was not permitted to do this, and that I should return the product to Amazon since I purchased it via my Amazon Prime account. Just went on Amazon and there is a 30-day window for such returns. Having bought the product more than 30 days ago, this leaves me high & dry. Not happy.
I have the same problem as everyone else. The only workaround is to create a new User ID/Admin on the Mac.
However, that is a very unsatisfactory workaround.
Same issue now, did several returns, submitted them, went to do one more, had error statement, program quit, sent info to intuit, now cant open, get message updating; you are up to date and program will not appear on mac screen, the files are there ( hopefully not corrupted now) the icon tis on the doc but it just will not open HAS ANYONE BEEN GIVEN A SOLUTION?
Please try to delete the software and reinstall it.
Please let us know if we can assist you further. @twinfejj
Same problem as the above. Mac Home Business 2021 crashed while inputing. When trying to re open it pops up for a split second and immediately crashes. I spent almost 5 hours on the phone with two different TT representatives. We tried deleting and re installing four times including a "new" copy that was sent to me. The final conclusion..."it must be a problem with your computer" (a two year old MacBook Pro with latest software, that works flawlessly with every other application).
Totally unacceptable response. I believe it is clear that there is a corrupted file that remains on my Mac even when the software is deleted. This is a TurboTax problem that should be fixed.
I downloaded a copy to my wife's MacBook, brought my data file over and it all worked perfectly. So my immediate problem was solved, but now I have a computer that is incapable of running the software that I purchased...and I live in fear that any future attempt to use TurboTax will result in a recurrence of the problem and potential additional damage to my computer.
Creating another user on the Mac, and then transferring the file via email or through an external storage device does work but it is a totally unacceptable work around for several practical reasons.
I am not a techie but I did follow advice from another user to delete the turbo tax plist file in `/library/preferences/
This actually works apart from the error message you will get when you first open the program. It seems you can just ignore it and it works properly.
Turbo Tax is totally negligent in this and I hope some attorneys are interested.
Not sure how to do this
but do I really need to do this alone or do I have to delete the software too
and what will happen to the old files will they be readable. ?
liley I will never get turbo tax again for the Mac
as
the whole desire is ease of use not spend hours regarding opening the program
