MY 2020 taxes are sitting in the error department at the IRS because 1) I filled for the 1st Stimulus payment that I never received 1200$ on my 2020 taxes as a repayment never received because I had moved april 1 2019 and the paper check went to the Colorado address I previously lived at in 2019 and was in my homestate of Illinois before the 1st stimulus payment was sent the Landlord of the Colorado address where I once lived sent it back to the IRS. 2) The IRS informed me today that my taxes were filled wrong because my unemployment which was the bulk of my income for 2020 as I was laid off when covid started in April 2020 and the Company closed due to Covid and I was on unemployment from April to the end of the year December 31 2020 was entered on wages as a W4 instead of the proper place for Unemployment So I would receive the 10,000 $ credit for being unemployed and now they stated that I can't do anything until the 2020 tax is processed and it could take 6 months because my wages are incorrect and can not be verified to be correct And once I am processed I then have to file a amended tax return So I stated that I was on unemployment for 8 months and you put that 23,000.00 $ in wages and not where it was suppose to be in the 1099 G BENEFITS PAID 23,011,00$ I only had 1 W4 from my work wages were only 1460.27$ MY 2020 taxes are so wrong and you are the professionals in the tax business I gave you the numbers you put the numbers where they belong on tax form ??? I will have no income after Sept,4 2021 My unemployment benefits will be shut off What are you going to do to fix the mistake you made?? I want someone real / LIve person to call me at [phone number removed] my cell ASAP Ronda R Bearce

I am not a new member I have done my taxes with you several times last year and other years I will not be returning again and I will tell everyone I know including my 200 Facebook friends that Turbo Tax is not only robbing customers of money that you claim is filling for free then charge 50$ for filing State and 60$ for filing federal through E file but Don't admit fault or take responsibility for fudging a customers entire Tax year taxes federal and state will both have to be amended if the federal IRS ever processes my taxes the worst business policy I have ever heard of

Just to respond to your demands that a DIY program completed your return incorrectly and that they should fix it...
Let it be understood that the DIY program is just that ... it is only a program totally subject to the data entries of the user. If you had unemployment to enter then it had to be entered in the 1099-G unemployment section and not as a W-2 so if you entered in the wrong place then you have only yourself to blame. Then did you review the entire return before you sent it ... so did you not notice the unemployment on the wrong line? If you did not review the return for accuracy before you filed it then that was also a user error. The program can only complete the return with the input you enter ... old saying garbage in garbage out.
Now to the issue of correcting these errors ... they cannot be done until the IRS has completed processing the original return. There is nothing anyone can do to speed up that process so all you can do is wait. Until they have "tossed the ball " back to you there is no way to know what needs to be done ... they may make all the corrections needed, or require you to file a new return or even to amend it ... wait for a notice in the mail for directions.
I left a message and no one ever contacted me....how can they do this?
how did you get to speak to an agent?
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

I received a letter from the IRS telling me I owe additional amount for 2020 return. Can you check if there was a mistake?
Visit the TurboTax Audit Support Center, first.
See https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/irs-notice/audit-support/
You can always contact phone support via the link below,
What exactly does the letter say ? A common adjustment is if you claimed the Recovery Rebate Credit on 1040 line 30 when you already got the Stimulus payments or got the second one after you filed or reported the wrong amounts. Do you have an amount on line 30? And you had to report the right amount in each box. If you put the total in 1 box it would give you the other amount again. The IRS knows they already sent it to you. Line 30 is only if you qualify more.
IRS notified me they found an error on my 2019 return in calculating Tax on social security benefits. They billed me an additional $149.79 which has been paid due to accumulation or interest.
