Why does my CF-1040 form say "do not file, not final" even though my federal and state returns have been approved?

I do have to print off and mail my forms that say do not file forms not final, so i'm concerned.

Why does my CF-1040 form say "do not file, not final" even though my federal and state returns have been approved?

There are several reasons why that would appear on your return when trying to print it. Please review the message below.

The message DO NOT FILE or DO NOT FILE, FORM NOT FINAL will appear on your printout if:

  • The print version of the tax form hasn't yet been finalized in TurboTax.
  • Your federal return was printed before e-filing.
  • Your state return was printed before your federal return was accepted by the IRS.
  • The form is available but you haven't downloaded the latest update.

My forms have been available for awhile so I’m not sure why I can’t print them off.

May I ask are you using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop? If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you need to run updates. TurboTax Online should have the updates automatically.

I am using turbo tax online and my federal and state e-filings have been submitted and approved. I need to print out my city of Battle Creek return to mail in and it still says do not print form not final.

When you print out the return, you will need to print out the mail in version, not the version included from the e-file printout.
