We cannot tell you if you will receive a stimulus check. TurboTax has no way to check that for you. If you did not say on your own return that you can be claimed, and your parents cannot claim you, then you might still receive a check. If you do not receive one this year, you can get it on your 2020 return when you file your 2020 return next year--assuming you are not claimed as a dependent for 2020.
The IRS can look at your 2018 or 2019 return to issue a stimulus check. If they do not have a 2018 return then you may be waiting for them to finish processing 2019 before they will be able to use it to issue your stimulus check.
If you used the non-filer site, you will not be able to e-file a 2019 return after using the non-filer site.
TurboTax has no control over your stimulus check, nor can TT track it for you or tell you when the IRS will issue it. Refer to the sites linked below:
You can call the IRS hotline at 1-800-919-9835 to get updates on your stimulus payment.

I claimed my 24 yr old son as a dependent on 2019 tax return because he was getting his masters and he needed health coverage through my Obamacare plan. He graduated in Dec and has been unemployed due to waiting in Navy assignment that has been delayed due to covid. To make things worst he did not qualify for unemployment until this week and has bills to pay. I have again had to put him on my Obamacare plan to get coverage which makes him a dependent. Would be a good idea to take him off Obamacare and get Medicaid and not claim him as dependent for 2020 so he could receive some stimulus to pay his bills?
@@Regina . You are carrying a tithe as “expert“ and telling them that the parent that claimed them received the adult /college age child’s stimulus ? This is not true . The parents received nothing for children over 16 including college students or any adult they may have claimed . However , the college student or example the person asking this WILL receive the stimulus as a refund /credit on 2020 taxes as long as she is not claimed again in 2020 . No parent received any extra stimulus money for any child over 16yrs of age rather in high school or college ! The college dependents did get jipped by not getting it right now BUT they are taken care of at tax filing for 2020
Hello,
I was a college student in 2019 but I graduated in December 2019 and have been working and living on my own all of 2020. To my understanding I will be able to claim the stimulus check(s) as tax credit on my 2020 returns when I file next year?
Thank you
That's exactly how it is supposed to work; however, it does not.
TP was dependent in 2018.
TP not dependent in 2019 and filed in April, electronic.
No stimulus payment as of August 2020.
No procedure for this fact set anywhere on the IRS site (because it's supposed to be automatic & not need procedure).
IRS.gov says "Payment Status not Available"
You will receive any additional credit to which you were entitled when you file your 2020 taxes. See question #27 here

I am actually an adult dependant on my son's 2019. However he moved a year ago now so I have been an independent. I see it says if that happens I have to file my taxes by the end of 2020 and get stimulus then too. How do I file this so it doesn't get rejected or which do I file for this. I get ssd
@Shellmini Sorry you misunderstood. If your son claimed you as a dependent on his 2019 tax return you cannot get a stimulus check this year. They go by 2018 or 2019 tax returns. If he claimed you for 2019 that made you ineligible for a stimulus check in 2020. The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can get on a 2020 tax return that you can file in 2021, so you will have a chance in 2021 to get it IF your son does not claim you on his 2020 tax return.
I didnt receive the $500.00 what do I do?
@Shameonyou - if you are eligible, it will be reconciled as part of your 2020 tax return and will appear on Line 30 of Form 1040.
Hello, I have a quick question.
TP claimed his 15 years old daughter in his tax in 2019 and got the 500 stimulus for her. In 2020 She got married and now she filed MFJ, Could she get the 1,200 from fisrt stimulus using recovery rebate eventhough her dad got the 500 ?
thanks in advance
Yes---if she and her spouse file a joint return for 2020 they can use the recovery rebate credit and get the stimulus money.
The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return. If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021
The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the Federal Review section, If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

... she was 15 in 2019 but got married in 2020 when she was 16...? Just trying to get this straight...
yes (with parental consent)
She and her spouse will be able to claim the recovery rebate for both stimulus payments if they did not receive them. The IRS has clarified that if they gave you a stimulus check for a dependent that you can not claim in 2020, you do not have to pay the money back. @taxesam
