We did not receive our stimulus checks yet. are these not considered tax credits against 2019 taxes, if taxes are owed? what about form 1444??

The stimulus payment is not a tax credit on a 2019 tax return so it is not entered on the return.

The IRS Notice 1444 is not relevant to your 2019 federal tax return.

If form 1444 does not apply then why does the IRS website say you should save it for tax purposes? I don't recall ever getting one. How would I go about getting a copy of the one that was supposedly sent?

The 1444 was a letter that was sent out a few weeks after your stimulus payment.   It is not a form that you have to submit with your 2020 tax return.  On your 2020 return you will be asked if you received stimulus money in 2020.  Just answer the question and the software will reconcile the amount if you did not get the amount you should have received already.

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check this year, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021—if you are eligible. It will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

@timnoyes1 - you probably got it and don't remember it... it was that letter from the White House signed byu Donald Trump - look at the picture on the attached link.  Don't worry about not having it, just be confident you know how much you received as that is an input while doing your 2020 tax return
