Is TurboTax a Fraudulent Company?????  Is there no way to speak with a human?  The who crappy system is a loop to nowhere.  AVOID!

How can I find my last year's tax return?  I did it on TT, but can't find it and it was never sent out, so I never received my return.  Now I can't do this year's return, because I can't find my #'s from last year.  Also, this is a CRAZY way to have 'customer support.'  Is there no way to TALK with someone who can walk me through my account????

If you filed with TurboTax or have an original copy of 2017 tax return, check here   2017 AGI .

The best and fastest way to access the 2017 AGI is to order a transcript from the IRS.  Click here  Get Transcript and select "Get Transcript Online " On the transcript, look under section "Adjustment to Income" and find the amount for Adjusted Gross Income.

You said above that your 2017 return was "never sent out".   If that is the case then you have to use "zero" for your 2017 AGI in order to e-file 2018, since no 2017 AGI is in the system for you.   If zero does not work then you need to print sign and mail your 2018 return.

Something must have gone wrong with your 2017 e-file.  Either you did not actually go all the way through to the orange button that said "Transmit Return Now" and complete the process, or your tax return was rejected and you did not notice or follow up.  At this point, you have to print, sign and mail it.

 Online preparation and e-filing for 2017 is permanently closed.  You have to download 2017 software to a full PC or Mac (not to a mobile device) and then print, sign and mail your return.  If you already paid for your TurboTax software, you can contact customer support to push a download of the software to you.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.

This is so terribly FALSE.  The number you give will be answered by a bot, who will ask my account information.  The bot then says, 'I'm sorry, I don't see an account for you,' and will DISCONNECT!  Meanwhile, when I log into my very real account, it welcomes me to my 4th year with Turbo Tax!  Plus, I have a record of paying $200 to intuit for my 2017 tax prep.  BUT, instead of helping me access them, faceless people on a public discussion board send me to the IRS.  What is this?!  You took my money and did NOT render a service and continue NOT to render a service.  This is call theft!  Where is a number where I can be connected to a HUMAN and not a bot?????

we received notice from the IRS that our taxable earnings was miscalculated and they want an additional $1225.12 for and approximate under payment of 400 dollars and change

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support.   At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support".  Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter.  Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

How do I finish a prior-year return that I started in TurboTax Online?

If you started your 2015, 2016, or 2017 return in TurboTax Online but didn't finish it before the shutdown, you can always start over in the TurboTax CD/download software, available for purchase at TurboTax.com.

 

You can also transfer your incomplete return to the CD/download software if you don't want to start from scratch. Here's how:

  1. Purchase the TurboTax CD/Download software and install it on your PC or Mac computer.

o    If you're also doing a state return, be sure to download and install the corresponding state program on your PC or Mac.

  1. Now sign in at TurboTax.com with the same login you used to prepare your prior-year return.
  2. Under Your tax returns & documents, select Download .tax file(not the PDF) for the prior year you want and save it to your computer.
  3. Back in the CD/download software, select Find a Tax File, and then browse to the tax data file you downloaded in Step 3. Select the file and click Open.
  4. You can now finish up in the software. You'll need to paper-file, as e-filing for prior years is no longer available.

Turbo tax says I can not get my Solar tax credit until 2020.  I had panels installed in Dec 2019.  How do I let Turbo tax know that?

If you entered your solar energy credit on your 2019 tax return and TurboTax is carrying the credit to tax year 2020, there are times when you can't take the credit in the current year:

  • Your income is at a level that's not taxed at all.
  • You're getting other tax credits that have reduced your tax owed to zero.

If your credit can be carried forward to next year, we'll do that for you.
