Turbo Tax gets a F in my dealing with them. I get a different every time I call. My issue is I filed early and was taxed on all my unemployment money. My return was adjusted by TT i guess but unable to file amended return
TT has done a real poor job of letting its clients no how to correct.
If you already filed and didn't get the 10,200 unemployment exclusion you do not need to amend. The IRS will be adjusting it for you. See new article May 14, 2021
Please help, all I can do is download my already filed taxes from the website. How did open them? I filed and got my return in Feb, everyone says theirs is updating, I keep trying different tricks. Not working tho. Wondering how you opened instead of just downloading it?
What file are you downloading? It should be a pdf. Any computer should be able to open a pdf file.
How to get a copy after filing
Here's an alternate way to print by opening the filed return back up to print at the Print Center, where you can also get the worksheets.
Log in and at the Tax Home or in the section Your Tax Returns & Documents for 2020, look for a link Add a State. Click on Add a State. (you don't really add one. That's just to open your return back up.)
After the return is open, click in the left menu column on TAX TOOLS, then PRINT CENTER.
Then choose Print, save, view this year's return.
The next screen should offer some options: Just my tax returns or include government worksheets (optional), or include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional.)
Why wasn't my return updated from the American Rescue Plan like everyone else's?
I'm using my smartphone, no computer available. But when I download and look, it hasn't been updated.
Can tell me how it affects my return
I filed my state taxes in March. When I go back into my file, the amount currently showing as owed is about $100 less than when I filed my taxes. I assume this means something changed and I need to re-file my state return. However, when I go into my account to do this, it only takes me to my federal taxes. How do I get into and refile my state taxes only?
Hello,
Can anyone Tell me if I Filed my taxes on March 26, 2021 would I be eligible for extra refund amount from unemployment tax that was withheld. Or are my current taxes already correct? I also filed Single/No dependents less than 20k income.. Not sure where to look for any answers? Should I just sit patiently and wait to see if my name is called?
Thanks for and help or clarification!!!
That's right when Turbo Tax updated the program for unemployment so it may be included.
If you have unemployment you can exclude up to 10,200 for each person if your income is under $150,000. Your unemployment compensation will be on Schedule 1 line 7. The exclusion will be on Schedule 1 Line 8 as a negative number. The result flows to Form 1040 Line 8.
If you already filed and didn't get the 10,200 unemployment exclusion you do not need to amend. The IRS will be adjusting it for you. See,
So does this mean it was received the 1st time?

If this is the Schedule 1 filed with the federal tax return, then the unemployment compensation exclusion was entered on the 2020 federal return that was filed.

@VolvoGirl I filed in March but the IRS STILL has not "automatically updated my taxes" provided for in the American Rescue Plan. Today I received a notice CP14 indicating I have until July 26 to pay my taxes. I do not owe these taxes. Instead I should get a refund! I've been calling the IRS and they keep telling me to pay my bill and they will get to me eventually!!!😩

How long do you think it will take for the IRS to update our taxes with the rescue plan provisions?
