Trouble with Installing VA State for TurboTax 2023 Desktop

TT really needs to fix this bug.  The program should not pretend to be allowing you to download a state return if that state return is not actually available yet.

The issue (for me) is that I would like to estimate my 2023 VA taxes in time for the Q4 Estimate Payments deadline of Jan 15, 2024, which unfortunately comes before Intuit's expected Jan 18, 2024 availability...

The forms for VA should be available on 01/04 even though though they will not be finalized until 01/18

Why January 4?  Because that is when the Virginia Information Worksheet becomes available.

I see evidence that the worksheet is released on 4 Jan but not the full sweet of forms until 18 Jan. Also, I totally agree not a peep from TT on why the delay. This is totally inexcusable. I certainly don't like the idea of having to switch to a different program. I been using TT for 25+ years and never had this issue. I use the early release of the state to help be ensure I don't owe a bunch of money at tax due time.

Yes, there is a problem with the TTX software "Telling you that the state is available" in the first place.

The software fix is to have TTX engineers correct their software to tell you that your state is not available to you at this time.

The vast majority of state software sets will not be available until well into January of 2024.....

It is not just TTX, but a significant amount of commercial software that fails basic human factors functionality.

As a retired software engineer, I have evaluated many software systems over many years.  Since retiring 15 years ago, I find the issue growing significantly worst.  There is a lack of attention to human factors.

January 2, 2024 and still having same issue.  Under Virginia, once you click on “See Amount”, it puts you in the same dew loop.  Frustrating….been using TurboTax for many years….first time this has happened.   Any fixes out there?

All same. It appears Va and some other states have not released their "updated" forms for TT to download.  In turn, TT has done a very poor job of communication status of download opportunity.  It is Jan 2 and all is still the same. At one point, TT charged me $40 for the download, even though I should have a free single state download.  I will say that TT reversed the charged after they informed me how to file for a refund. That was accomplished in a couple days. Now, at least, the software is NOT charging me for the download when I enter the infamous "doom download loop".  Patience is wearing very thin.

i have similar problem.  when i click on start. i get a pop up saying "Here is the states you have downloaded" and there is empty box next to Virginia.  when i click on the box i get another pop up which says "Let's download and install your state",  after i click on OK, another pop up comes up which says, "Your sotware is up to date" and gives an option to click on "Ok".  if i click "ok", the application takes me back to the original screen to download state return again.  it does not allow me to open state return and continue working :(

Tried using link to get "expected" date of VA State availability and get the following:  "Unable to process your request at this time. Please try again after sometime."  Hmmmmm.  Even with an "expected" date there is no reason to have much confidence at this point.  I guess we are "expected" to just randomly keep trying.  I expected more from TT after all these years.....
