Can I install two turbotax downloads on one computer (to save on multiple state returns)?

No, you can only install one personal program per computer.  You will get errors if you attempt to install a second program and the program will not operate.  The only exception is for TurboTax Business (C Corps, S corps, Estates, Trusts, Muli Member LLCs).  You CAN install the Business platform (not Home and Business) with one of the personal platforms already installed.

Thank you!  So a second state return costs more than TurboTax Deluxe Fed + State.  As the Donald would say, Sad.

INCORRECT !  You cannot install the 2019 Home and Business version after installing 2019 Premier.  Just tried it.

Can you uninstall  the 2019 Premiere version and then install the 2019 Home and Business version on the same computer.

Well, that really sucks. Because I have purchased Premeir and Home & Business...as I usually do. It has never  been a problem before -  Is this new this year? And why would we not be advised of such a change??

This is not a new change. Turbo Tax has always only allowed one version to be installed per computer.

@marahunter   Are you on Windows?  Maybe you have been buying Premier and the separate Turbo Tax Business program (not Home & Business).  You can have Turbo Tax Business and any personal version installed at the same time.

Have you bought a personal program AND a business program in the past ?    If so they can be on the computer at the same time.    Home & Business and the  Business versions are NOT the same thing so did you buy the wrong program ?   

So if you bought Premier and Home & Business then  return one of them since they are both personal programs.

Why do you want both Premier and Home & Business?  You only need one personal version.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions. 

And the Desktop programs can do unlimited returns.  You won't get more efiles by buying another program.

I read all the replies to this question.  But I would like to add and share more information I discovered by exploring the software.  If you download two TurboTax software, you cannot use them at the same time. But once you are done with one software and you have already installed the second (have different names saved; add a 2 or b to distinguish), open the TurboTax software, on the top select the "Help" tab, go down to the "Switch product" option, and will indicate what is currently running for TurboTax software as an option listed there. You will click on "Activate new product" and follow the prompts. You will require your software license code (again). And that should switch your software to the second installation, you'll be able to use the next 5 federal e-files. I hope this helps someone; similar to my situation.

I have already purchased a second copy of TT Deluxe, planning to do more than 5 returns, all family and friends, all for free.  But TT will not install a second copy.  I would like to know if anyone knows what to do to get a second copy to install.
