Issue resolved.
Refiled federal return using TT online premier, and get accepted. didn't do anything, just click through.
I appreciate all the comments from the Turbo Tax community. I, too, waited until there seemed to be a fix (that is, other returns were now being accepted), performed the update, and re-submitted with no changes. Like others, my returns (state and federal) were now accepted.
Thanks for helping to inform all of us so we didn't think the problem was exclusive to our individual returns.
Same thing. Entered everything over after an update. Was rejected within an hour instead of a day this time with no helpful reason or indication they would be fixing anything.
The issue was resolved for me as well (online Premier). I give TurboTax full credit for fixing the issue quickly, and zero credit for not being open about the problem and what they were doing to fix it until it had already been fixed. Next time, just tell us what's up.
I got the same error. Converted all non-deductible traditional IRA to a Roth IRA in 2020, but realized that my basis was incorrect from past years on the 8606 forms so Turbo Tax was seeing a different basis from past filings (I did provide the explanation and amounts of correct basis in the software). I am guessing I will need to mail in my return with the amended basis on the 8606 forms.
Resubmitted TT online this morning and Federal was accepted 30 minutes later. State is pending, but I assume that will go through now as well. (On a side note, I telephoned TT Cust Sppt this AM with a billing question - very prompt and helpful.) So Kudos, for that.
May I note one item on this discussion thread: I have seen some users noting they were due a refund. Why would anyone stage their payments or affairs so that they are overpaid to the government unless something they had no control over. Always owe the government cash and take the anxiety out of any rejection. Secondly, folks, if you have not opened an online account with the IRS and your state taxing authorities, do so. Before someone opens one for you in your name.
Thanks for company these past few days.
update...resubmitted e-file this morning and Federal was just accepted so appears issue may have been fixed.
Yep, 1 more - refiled online and it worked!
Now the state has go through as well. Glad the nightmare has come to an end.
Good luck to you all!
Mine worked too. Waited to submit today and received notification that Federal was accepted
Sorry, I am new to this forum and now realize that I should have posted a new question instead of replying to an existing one...
Does anyone know whether this problem has been fixed? The rejection error no longer displays when I open my return in TT so I assume that means the error has been fixed...
My last TT update was installed successfully on 3/4/2021, there are no new updates as of today (3/5/2021).
I am very unhappy with the way TT handled this problem. Users should not have to figure out issues like this, TT should have communicated this issue to all users who purchased their product. I also think the "Detailed Update History" tab under the Online > View Installed Updates menu in TT should indicate WHAT was fixed in each update, like a mini readme file.
It appears to have been. I resubmitted mine and it went through.
Thanks, I just resubmitted mine. Hopefully it will go through this time.
Thanks, I just resubmitted mine. Hopefully it will go through this time.
I agree, I wish I'd remembered that this forum existed and checked here as soon as I got the error. I too was stressed out and almost paid $400 to have someone else redo my taxes--glad I held off.
