May I ask if your bank is tied to a prepaid debit card? If so, you should get a mailed check if your return was rejected by your bank. I would also recommend contacting the IRS directly if you have any further questions.

If your bank rejects your refund deposit it goes back to the IRS (or State) not TurboTax.  The IRS (& State) will automatically switch you to receiving a check. Please see this thread here for more information.

As of today it has been 13 days since the bank rejected my refund on 2/19/22. Wheres My Refund didnt update until the 24th. When the money was sent to my bank & rejected, WMR status was only at approved. On 2/24/22, it finally updated to sent, even though the IRS should have had the returned deposit by then. It still says sent and that my refund was sent to my bank on 2/24/22, even though it had been rejected 5 days earlier and the WMR status was only on approved when it sent. Now that it says sent, does that mean they've mailed out a check?

The best way to check on this status is to contact the IRS directly.  There might be a delay in the updating of the WMR website.  To reach out to the IRS, please follow the steps below:

 

IRS: 800-829-1040  

Hours: 7 AM - 7 PM, local time 

Monday-Friday

  • Listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
  • Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
  • Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".  
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.

They never answer it always says call back mine was rejected on the 10th of February when do you think I’ll get mine

I've been trying that method for the last week. Every time I get close to talking to an IRS agent, I get an automated message that due to the high call volume, my call cant be answered and to try back later. I've spent hours on the phone and have been unable to reach an actual person.

Try this method instead -

 

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

Many users have said they have had luck when they call the IRS the very first thing in the morning.  Try that on Monday when they open.  And the open time is 7am Your local time.
