I've got the same problem, and I spent about 3 hours trying to get the problem resolved with Intuit tech support and it still doesn't work. What a terrible product, not sure why I should buy Turbo tax any more. Its very frustrating.
I've used Turbo Tax for years and find it a very good program. I gave up trying on my computer and tried to install it on my daughters computer just to see if I ran into the same issue. It immediately installed without a problem and I ran it and filed my taxes in one evening. Now, to figure out what is wrong with my computer. Good luck to you!
Thanks, that a good suggestion, but we only have one Widows computer, and it's essentially the same computer used last year when I also used Turbo Tax. The error message is virtually useless. There is an error log file and it reports an error, but I don't know what to make of it, and the tech support doesn't know about or know what to do with it, they didn't even ask for it. They are suppose to be sending me a replacement disc, but I don't know when it will arrive and they could NOT give me an estimate. This is really poor service support as far as I'm concerned. I should be able to just down load it.
Hello,
I have been having exactly the same issue. I can say it started the day I did an update on Quickbooks and from that day, both Quickbooks and TurboTax will not work on my current laptop but works on my old laptop. Did you ever get this resolved? If so, can you please provide how you fixed it.
Thanks!
Win 10 OS had a big update this week ... this can affect how the TT program runs and updates. So check for any updates that still need to be installed, then reboot the computer at least twice to make certain they are installed and then try opening the TT program and run a update. See if that fixes the issues.
I am having the same problem. I can't find a fix. It's very frustrating. I called customer support and they can't help. We went through several fixes that didn't work, and they switched me to a different level. I paid $30 for the program from Amazon and Intuit rep said I should try to return it. ??? I don't have any other issues with the computer. It is a new Dell. Everything else works fine. If anyone finds a fix, please post.
Has a solution been found? This issue is a year old. I bought TT from Amazon, downloaded from Intuit yesterday. I'm PC administrator and I exceed the system requirements. I did not disable virus and firewall protections.
The best place to start would to try the steps in the below TurboTax help article.

What is the TurboTax phone number?
Michael,
Did you find out what was wrong with your computer? I followed instructions for checking functionality of Microsoft Windows Installer/Uninstaller program. No issues found.
Could this TurboTax error be due to more than 5 installations of the CD? Once this error is generated, it apparently stays with your computer for any other TT installations. Intuit emailed me a softcopy of the 2020 Premier TT with a new license code. Same error repeats. To see if the problem was only with 2020 year TT, I tried to open my 2019 TT. It failed to open with the same error. Then, I installed my 2021 TT Premier last night. It failed to launch with the same error. So, another question is: if a user has more than 5 installations of a TT CD, what does TT software do? In my case, during last 8 weeks, several TT customer support employees had me to uninstall and reinstall my CD and also the soft-copies they emailed me.
Yes - the only thing I could do was to upgrade to Windows 11. I gotta think there was something inside Windows 10 that was not working well with Turbotax. Maybe a clean install of WIndows 10 might have worked as well, but it was a brand new computer so I am not sure. Once I upgraded to Win11 it started to work fine.
Good luck,
Greg
I had the same problem, tried all of Turbo Tax problem solved and it did not work.
I uninstalled Turbo Tax rebooted computer then reinstalled from there download file instead of cd and it worked fine after that.
