Thank you so much @MarilynG1 that makes sense but yes the list is very confusing since it has research activities earlier on in the list. Even the tax experts didn't know how to help but your explanation really helped! Thank you.
It seems that a CO refund from 2020 was carried over as prepayment of CO taxes in 2021. Line 32 of the 2020 CO form 104 was carried over to Line 19 on CO 2021 form 104.
in the Canadian program. under principle residence, I felt it was calculating wrong, so ended up entering the info twice, then deleted the extra one, which worked from a final tax form, but then I am getting errors that say I have not "FIX' so to hit fix, which i hit fit, but because the sub form is not there it kicks it out. so i just ignore, but then it doesn't let me file because of these errors. so I have to print and send in.

I believe there is an error in your Michigan state tax program. My RMD was correctly reported in the FIT but was incorrectly reported as a military pension in MI form 4884, line 10 and not as a private pension on line 8. As
Another error to report:
Massachusetts 2021 Form 1-NR Schedule CMS drop down choices did not work for a non-refundable credit reported on a MA 3K-1, Line 41 d and e where a PTE paid taxes on behalf of an individual partner.
Can you just add an "ELTCRD" option to Section 3b like you already have for the refundable portion Section 4b?
Box 5 on the Social Security fotm 1099 is net benefits. Box 5 onTurbotax is for RRB benefits. I have no RRB benefits. I think my entry should be zero
Did you click on the wrong thing? In my desktop program it first asks the type of benefits received with 2 choices. See if there is another box at the top to check for Social Security.
Are you in the Online version? I made a screen shot. Look or the SS box at the top. There are 2 boxes you can check.
In TT for business 2022 the program is doubling my clergy housing allowance on schedule SE adjustments worksheet Part II, line 5b for self employment income and therefore my SE tax is double what it should be. I have redone the entries several times and the same issue happens.
It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2022" file that is experiencing this issue.
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
Go to the black panel on the top of your screen and select Online.
We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
I've completed both Federal and State of Michigan taxes using on-line Turbo Tax.
Federal appears fine. However the state return says I will get a $3800 refund.
The problem is that I paid no state taxes, did not have anything withheld, and do not qualify for any tax relief. My gross income is over $100,00. I'm 82 and retired in 2002.
I did not get any state refund using Turbo Tax for 2021.
I'm hesitant to submit my turbotax forms as I think the state rebate is all wrong.
Check your MI-104 and entries in TurboTax. You can preview your Michigan return before you file.
Does $3,800 sound familiar? You may have entered federal tax withheld or some other number, such as a pension contribution, in state withholding.
Lines 25-31 will show you where your refund is coming from. Line 30 is MI tax withheld and line 31 is estimated payments. If you have entries in either of those lines then they are incorrect entries.
Line 25 is your property tax credit.
I found a problem with how Turbotax is calculating a 1099 R distribution. I have a 401k distribution that was documented on one 1099R that was split between a Roth IRA and a Traditional IRA. It was a total distribution from the 401k so that box is clicked. However for example if only 100k of a 500k distribution went to the Roth IRA, The 1099R shows 100k as the taxable amount of the of the distribution. However when I complete entering the 1099R into Turbotax it treats the entire 500k as taxable. When I tried to override the 1099 Form to show a partial distribution to the Roth IRA, it won't allow me. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this. When I enter the code G for the distribution code - it automatically flags a total distribution to the Roth IRA even though only 100k should have been recorded. I tried to manually create a 1099 from - and every time I put in code G, it doesn't allow a partial amount to be entered. Turbotax is not handling a split distribution from a 401k into a Roth and traditional IRA from one 1099 R correctly. Please help correct the problem or advise a work around.
