I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

Again-----if you e-filed there is not a "signature" on the line where you could sign it in ink if you had the paper in front of you.  When you e-file, you put data in that "signs" it electronically.  If your e-file was accepted, then you do not have to stress about the signature.

Check your e-file status.  Was your return accepted?

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Oh that is bad ... expect the paper return to be rejected and mailed back for the signature ... don't know how long this will take but do NOT mail in another in the meantime as that can make things much worse.

IRS will send you the first page (1040) of your return to be signed and mailed again.

Does it depend if I did it e file or not or is it all the same process ? And how long does it take please this Friday would be making a month already

I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

@martir1999 If you e-filed then your "signature" was electronic.  There is no physical signature on the "sign here" line of an e-filed return.   If you printed and mailed your return in an envelope, it had to have your ink-signed signature on the bottom of page 2.

If you mailed it, there is no telling how long it might be before they send it back to you for a signature.   The IRS is not opening the mail right now.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continueThe IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. If you already have filed via paper but it has not yet been processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment. Paper returns will be processed  once processing centers are able to reopen.

@martir1999

When you efile the return gets ACCEPTED for processing ... how long the IRS will take to PROCESS the return and APPROVE the refund is unknown right now ...

"Accepted" or "approved"?  They are not the same thing.

I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

so because of me doing my 1040 efile i dont need to sign it

I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

@bardos93 That is correct.   There is no physical "signature" next to the words Sign here when you e-file.  Your "signature" is electronic when you enter the AGI from the previous year.    If you print your return to file by mail then you take out a pen and sign it in ink.    Or if someday a lender etc asks you for a "signed" copy---then you print it and sign it in ink to keep them happy.

I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

I have a question what if you don't have AGI sign from last year? As of I didn't file last year. I also forgot to sign to efile and I didn't put down my 5 digit number for a signature just in case I forgot to e-sign. Do I amend and sign it or I do I print the tax form n send it to the irs signed with ink?

The IRS requires your 2019 AGI to verify your identity for e-filing. If you're paper-filing your return, you won't need your AGI because those are manually processed. If you tried to enter "0" and were not successful at processing your return, you can see the information here for steps to correct your AGI. If you can wait a few days then resubmit your tax return and see if you are successful at that time. If it doesn't work you will need to mail in your return.

I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

Oky so ill have to amend in oder to do my 2019 taxes on here so i can esign and get my  tax return currect? After i amend how do i go on about entering my 2019 taxes. Can i get some steps on doing my 2019 taxes on here?

I forgot to sign my 1040 form with my signature

If you filed taxes and forgot to sign, you do not need to amend.

If you filed your 2019 taxes with TurboTax and need to amend them you sign into TurboTax on a computer using the same username that you filed with in 2019.

  1. Tax Home
  2. Your Tax Returns and Documents at the bottom of the pagec
  3. Click on 2019 and follow the directions to download TurboTax to your desktop and amend your return.

If you have not yet filed 2019 taxes, then you will to TurboTax

  1. File your own taxes
  2. CD/Download Products
  3. File Previous Year's Products
  4. You will purchase the product that you need, download it to your desktop and prepare your 2019 taxes.

Previous year's taxes or amends cannot be prepared online and cannot be efiled.  They must be prepared on a computer, printed, signed, and mailed.

You have 3 years from the date you filed your return (or 2 years after you paid the tax due, whichever is later) to file an amended return, which means you don't have to get it done by the April 15 filing deadline.
