I am not claiming any self employment income yet turbo tax is charging for that version of their program… I was ready to file, do I need to start over?

If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2020 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.

Yes, this did answer my question.  Unfortunately the choice is then between paying the extra ($60?) or starting all over when I was done and ready to file :(

Or one thing you can do is buy a lower version of the Desktop program like Deluxe. Then you can switch from Online without starting over. You can download the .tax2020 file from online for free and open it in the Desktop program (any version). And the Desktop program has several other features and benefits over the Online version too. See the Desktop CD/Download programs here,
