I always use Turbo Tax on a CD. Are CD's going to be available in 2024

No you don’t need the CD.   Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to download to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac).  And the download will always be up to date with all the updates.

I did my tax return and that of a daughter using the same cd.

We are in the same state, so their was no additional charge.

Will I have to pay a second charge when I do my daughter's return?

What state?  In the Desktop program you have to pay the state efile fee for each state return if you efile or you can print and mail state for free.  Only New York is free to efile.

@Duffer2 You can use H & R Block's download if you prefer it.   They have also discontinued CD's.

I downloaded Turbotax but it doesn't have the schedules or forms to look at.  There is no place to update the download from the internet.  I prefer a CD with all the data and letting it bring in last year's data for comparison.

If you installed the 2024 desktop edition on your personal computer with the license code. Just start a New Tax Return. 

To check for updates, click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen and click on Check for Updates.

To access all the forms, schedules and worksheets, click on View at the top of the desktop program screen and then click on Forms

@OldGeyser   Sounds like you got into the Online web version by accident.  After you downloaded the program did you install it and activate it with the 16 digit License Code?  The Download is exactly the same as the CD and as before.  It's just the method  you use to install the program.  

When you filled out your return did you go online and log in? And see a black column on the left side with the menu items, Federal, State, File etc. That is Online.

The Desktop program is blue across the top and the menu items like Federal, State, Review, File go across the top.

I am on a differnt computer than 23 that used a disk and need to transfer my 23 data to the new computer

You can copy your .2023tax file from your old computer to a removable drive.  Then copy the file to your new computer from the removable drive (easiest if you copy to desktop).  When you start your 2024 return, browse for that that file (if TurboTax doesn't automatically see it) to transfer into 2024.

Though I started my 2024 taxes via TurboTax, I may backout and go with an actual software disc providing company. I literally have 23 versions of TurboTax from the past 23 years and this is the WORST TURBOTAX situation EVER. IT'S ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! DON'T DO IT

@Dissatisfied  Note - there are no tax preparation software companies providing CD's in 2025, all are either online or download software.

I have always used your TurboTax cd program since you started. But; I went to many outlets where they were sold nd nothing? Told me no more! So I say the same to you people; "NO MORE" Goodbye. I will find an alternative! I will try Netfile next Good luck I guess you don`t need us older Tax workers. I do  around 16. Bye!
