Guess what I just found out after again buying TurboTax from Costco and having installation issues for the second year in a row? If you install on a Mac and then want to install on a PC it won’t work. If your initial install is on a PC and then you want to subsequently install on a Mac, it won’t work. A phone call to Turbo Tax will be required. Apparently, the program cannot self adjust to working on two platforms although the TurboTax box does not say this. I actually tweeted to TurboTax about this issue.
You can only install it on one computer , I tried and told me that the serial number was already used. You can however do more than one tax on the original program, just open the program and click on new return.
mac programs do not work on windows and vice versa. Download on each computer.
When installing on another computer- make sure you use the same user id and license. You get 5 computers per person and license.
@dinger2625 Did you install the CD on the PC? Or did you use the download method? If you used the CD you might be able to use the CD for Mac or visa versa.
You can get an inexpensive external drive or maybe borrow one. People are having luck installing the same CD on both Windows and Mac. It doesn't work to install on the same OS but works to install on a different OS. And the new thing is if you first install from the CD you can't use the download (except for calling in).
If you can't install from the CD to Mac you will need to call in and get the Mac Download put in your account and a new License Code. But a lot of the phone support won't do that. You have to try to get someone who knows they can give it to you.
thanks
I have two computers one windows and one man I originally installed the program on my windows computer and it worked fine but when I try to install it on my IMac and typed the serial number a message popped out that said “ the serial number you are trying to use has already been registered “
the simple answer just one. I read that you can call TurboTax and request to erased the already registered serial number but I didn’t try that
This user found a workaround to get both the Windows and Mac downloads.
Using TurboTax Deluxe, can I download the Federal and the state A to one Mac and on another Mac download and install the Fed, the same state (A) downloaded on Mac 1 along with a different state B (for paper filing) without an extra charge if I am paper filing for the states? Is there a charge just for downloading more than one state (paper state filing)

There will be a charge of $45 for the different state B.
If you paper file and mail a state return you don't pay the $25 state efile fee. You pay $25 to efile each state return including the first "free" state. The free state refers to the first state PROGRAM download. Then if you need a different state it is $45 for a state program download.
Can I download the one included State tax file (TurboTax Deluxe) to more than one computer, just like the federal? Is the limit up to 5?
Yes, the state download included with your software will transfer to more than one computer. For more information about the e-file limit, please see the below TurboTax Help Article.
Can I file multiple returns with TurboTax?
I normally install a copy on my home, work, and laptop. So three computers. They're all mine and all under the same Microsoft login. Program telling me I've reached the max after an upgrade on the same computer it was previously installed on (motherboard and CPU upgrade. Basically needed to go back and compare deductions from a prior year to current over the past few to make sure I'm not missing anything. These limits really make me want to switch to something else. Software is good and I signed up to have it automatically downloadable each year. Just super frustrating to not have it when needed. Any help appreciated.
