@sfsprock The downloads are specific to only one operating system. If you happen to have the actual CD and computers that have disk drives, the CD will install on either OS. If you do not have a disk drive then contact customer support to request a download for the other OS.

I just purchase 2021 turbox from costco and install in my desk top. Now I need to install in my laptop as I am travelling and it won't let me do it like 2020?
@Owen2ethan Did you first install from the CD or from a download? I bought the CD from the Costco store.
If you first installed the CD it doesn't give you access to the download. You have to call in.
If you installed from the CD it seems you can not download it from online now. You can't do both CD and download. See the new info on this FAQ

Here's what I did.
For 2021 I bought the CD from the Costco store (Jan 4, 2022). I have a Windows 8.1 PC and a Windows 10 laptop. This year I did the download option listed on the CD holder case. I first turned off (paused) my AntiVirus program and closed all the other programs running.
Then I went to installturbotax.com and entered my License Code. It put the download into my online account.
Then I was able to download it. And then I logged into my online account and download it the same way to my laptop. I had no problems installing on both computers.
When you see the downloads listed in your account it will say Copy Code by the License Code. Click on that. Then download the program and install it. I had to go to my Download folder and double click on the exe file to install it. After it installs it will launch the program. It will ask for the License Code to Activate it. You can paste the code you copied, do Ctrl+V.
To install on the other computer log into your account and do the same things.

Same way you installed it on the first one ... either you used the CD or the download so wash, rinse, repeat.

help desk is a waste of time. no idea what they are doing. Down loaded once, should be able to do 5 times. it won't allow me, they can't figure it out.
You can install TurboTax on up to 5 devices. May I ask specifically what happens when you attempt to install TurboTax on another device?
If the other computer is different like Mac or Windows you have to ask for the other download. Or what happens when you try to download it again? I downloaded it to my Desktop and Laptop. Do you see the download in your account? Or did you already first install it from the CD? You can't do both CD and Download.

@clkatz Did you buy the download from Costco online? Then it should be easy to download to the laptop. You do it the same way as the first time. Check back through your emails. Hopefully you still have the ones from Costco.
I helped my friend buy the Mac program download from Costco online. It went very well. You first get a confirmation email that says…..
"You will receive the redemption code, normally within the hour, via e-mail. To ensure delivery of your redemption code emails to you inbox, please add CostcoEDelivery@esd.synnex.com to your Email Address book or Safe list."
The 2nd email with the activation key came in 20 minutes. Make sure to write down or print out the 16 digit Key on the email. It is right above the Download Link. Then click on "Click Here" in the email to download the program and follow the install instructions.
I get the following message: "Turbotax CD installer is damaged" and will not let me reinstall. My laptop crappped out and I have a new one and am trying to download Turbotax again.
Did you install from the CD the first time and now need to download the installation file instead ? If you cannot save the installation file from the old computer and move it to the new computer via a thumb drive then you will need to call TT support for assistance.
