Thanks Julie. I did not see your post until after I did exactly what you recommended. I was having issues like many others with the warning that I was going to need to file by mail -- no e-file. So, I deleted the Form 1116 and all is fine. Got my full foreign tax credit. I did not need the FM1116 as our Foreign Tax was less than $600 (Joint Return). Turbo Tax should have automatically directed me to the non-Form1116 route (this year and other years) which would have actually saved be by not having the carry over penalty. Spent several hours researching the various posts (sorry that I missed yours) and finally just did a trial test run and deleted the 1116. Voila!
Not sure how to delete. Went to forms, found 1116, said delete form, but it keeps coming back. Dedicated Advantage phone line said they know about the problem and are working on a solution. No time table given.
I would guess that if the Form 1116 keeps coming back, you most likely have a situation in your return that requires the form. A carryover or maybe you don't fit the criteria for not needing the 1116. You can work the carryover issue -- various posts on that: Coriander, 5 Mar 2022 has a good solution. I assume you are working with TT download version.
Thank you.
I do have a foreign tax carry-over and need to wait for the availability of Form 1116 Schedule B for the foreign tax carryover reconciliation Schedule. The required calculation is not that complicated as long as one has the 2020 Return data. 3/31/2022 availability is very late. I am very disappointed.

Form 1116 Schedule B, Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule will be available in TurboTax for printing on 03/10/2022 and for e-filing on 03/11/2022

I have gotten several responses to a problem filing form 1116. ALL of them have been wrong. I still can NOT file my taxes (other than this my taxes were done in mid February) because form 1116 will not allow me to take the credit. I want to file form 1116 and get the credit.
Can someone from TurboTax please provide me CURRENT instructions on how to do this. Before sending, please go through the steps with the MAC desktop Premier version so I know they will work.
Thanks.
@cptt21 This form will be completed on March 11, 2022. It would be best to wait until then to try to file with the form.
My foreign tax credit is $17. Although this is way below the $300 threshold, Form 1116 was downloaded and populated with the data. After hours of research on this problem I finally found out that I could delete the form, which should never have been downloaded from the start. I also deleted the original 1099 and then manually re-entered it (desktop version). Form 1116 was still there, but after rebooting, I could easily delete it.
Yes -- Desktop. TT Premier CD
