In my situation I am not required to file a form 1116 since the foreign tax instrument was held by a USA brokerage and I paid well under the reporting limit of $600 (married filing jointly). I can follow the solution and remove the form 1116 from the return, but I still wish to receive credit for the foreign tax paid. Instructions for the form state that I can enter the foreign taxes paid on schedule 3 of form 1040. How do I accomplish this in TurboTax?
Your situation is exactly like mine. By removing the FM 1116, Turbo Tax then defaults to apply your credit via schedule 3. Unless of course you have underlying conditions that deem 1116 necessary.
Are you using the Online version of TurboTax or the CD/desktop version?
Turbo Tax Premium, CD Desktop for Windows
I am using the desktop version in a VM. I do not have any computers with windoz installed. Everything I have is Unix or Linux. But because of my network connection I do not do well in heavy application over the network. Until very recently the fastest internet I could get was 1.5 Mb/s down and 0.8 Mb/s up. Basically a T1 channel.
I am on a faster link now; 60 Mb/s down but still only 3 or 4 Mb/s up.
So I use the desktop version, the update on the intuit site now says that the form 1116 schedule B will be ready tomorrow 11 Mar. We will see.
If you access Forms you will see Schedule 3 just below 1040. Your foreign tax credit should be listed there. I recognized that Form 1116 had been downloaded erroneously when the credit appeared both on 1116 and Schedule 3. When I printed out the forms for filing (I had finished everything else and needed hard copy), I noticed that Form 1116 was not printed out for filing but Sched. 3 was. Then I deleted Form 1116.
When will I get information on filling out this form? I am ready to file except for this form.
Got the form. Now get the message "We can't e-file your return because we are unable to locate the attachment at/attachment/Form1116ScheduleB.pdf. Please go back and reattach it. Then try e-filing again." OK, so how do I reattach form 1116B?
The website says that Form 1116 will be available on February 26. However, that is not the case. I cannot file my return because Form 1116 is not available. What do I do now?

Update your software. Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen. Click on Check for Updates
If you get a message that the software is up to date, then try a manual update. See this TurboTax support FAQ for a manual update - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/updating/help/manually-update-turbotax-for-windows-software-basic-...
@bgstamm @Paperclip13 Have you been able to file or do you still need assistance?
I am still getting the same answer when I open the tax return, something to the effect that Form 1116 will be available soon. There is $2070 foreing tax credit to be carried forward to 2021 but it does not show.

I still get the same message that scotsman2 got and it is now 3/14/2022. Your answer
said the form would be available the end of February.
When is Intuit going to fix this problem????
1116 Sch B is currently available; please take a look at the response provided by DoninGA above and ensure that your software has the most recent engine update @shuttle1421.
