Can not install turbotax 2020 on windows 10 laptop. I need update.

The Turbo Tax 2020 is already installed.  When I go on the program it opens up asking me to install the update.

I click on it and it comes up with the activation box but never installs it.  After 10 minutes it comes up with error.

I had the same problem about a white activation screen. I changed the resolution to 800x600. Screen loaded correctly. I do have a newer pc

Have usedTurbo Tax Deluxe with satisfaction for many years.  Frustrated with Turbotax Deluxe 2020 CD which will not load on my Windows 10 desktop. Cannot enter the license code.

Hello,

I have a brand new laptop running Windows 10 (version 20H2.  Also called 10.0.19042).  I've downloaded TurboTax Deluxe 2020.  It won't activate.  All I get is a white activation screen.  Sometimes it has a single blue dot, sometimes 4 blue dots, and other times just a white screen when I try to activate.  This morning, when I first tried to start TurboTax, it downloaded updates dated April 1, but nothing changed.  It still won't activate.

You might try what was suggested to me by member NCperson, which solved my problem.  That was to reduce the screen's resolution to its lowest resolution of 800 x 600.  It shrinks the screen similar to having a 4 x 3 screen on your large wide screen TV, but TurboTax Deluxe 2020 worked fine for me after that.

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem.  my conditions were as follows:

• Fresh install of windows 10
• Updated windows 10 with all available updates
• TT Prem would start the install, run the 'I don't like your .net utilities', and then makes some promises to fix it that it never squared up on.

1. I tried the CCleaner reg-check, cleaned all reg errors -> no resolution
2. I tried installing the .net packaged included on the DVD -> wont install because win 10 has a more recent version
3. Followed a bunch of support forums and so on -> no resolution
4. Ran 'sfc /scannow' in an elevated cmd prompt, logs indicated some issues with .net libraries.
5. Ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth - which still reported some things it could fix
6. Retried TT install -> success.
   

Pretty sure DISM solved the problem, and whatever was not fixable wasn't interfering.  Again, this was a stock/clean install of Windows 10 of of Microsoft downloaded sources (no torrent hacks or any nonsense like that).  System was running fine, albeit I hadn't installed or done much with it.

If this is still a hassle for someone hopefully this helps.  As a tip - you can also use DISM with another installed box of Windows 10 in case windows update is unreachable or the problem IS or includes windows update.   Microsoft has that documented so I wont duplicate here.
