Am I to understand that to download my turbo tax 2023 my operating system must be Mac OS 12 or higher? Since my computer updates automatically, and I do not have OS 12 do I need to buy a new computer?

Looks like a lot of us are in the same boat - we either need to buy a new Mac for $2,000, use Turbotax's online software, or stop using Turbotax.  From descriptions on line, it looks like Turbotax's online software won't work for me because I have an interest in a small LLC and some income from a small parcel of real estate, so I need the Premier version of Turbotax.  H&R Block's software is also highly rated and costs only about $10 more than Turbotax for the Premier version.  That's what I'm going to do.  I'll try to take my Turbotax version back to Sam's Club, where I bought it.  I've been using Turbotax for literally decades.  Hate to leave it, but Intuit is leaving me no choice.  I'm not going to pay $2,000 for a new laptop I don't otherwise need just because Intuit doesn't want to spend the money to make its new software compatible with my operating system.

I too have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years and need the premier version.  I had purchased Turbotax online through Costco, and was fortunate Costco understood my problem and refunded my money.  I'm sure how I'm going to proceed, but know I'm not purchasing a new computer just to complete my taxes.  I wish Turbo Tax would come up with a solution for us all.

You can use the Online Premium version for all that.  It does the same as the Desktop Home & Business.  

If you used the Desktop program last year here’s How to transfer into the Online version.  You need to have the prior year .tax2022 file on your computer.  It should be in your Documents in a Turbo Tax folder.  Expand the link if you used the CD/download last year........

If you used the Desktop program before you may not like the online version.  It has less features and no Forms Mode.  All the Online versions do not have the same forms so you may need to upgrade to a higher version.  You can only do 1 return.  Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2023 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done.  In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something.  You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.

You are correct.  It's absolute **bleep** to have to buy a new computer to continue using Turbo Tax in the future.  My laptop runs perfectly but I can't upgrade past 11.7.10.

Intuit should provide a better option.

I have the same problem here. My old MacPro won't go higher than 11.7.  It is kind of rediculous that Turbotax can't provided the support for that system. Can't you ask your developers to change the tool chain and recompile? How hard is that!

I am running MacOS Monterey 12.7.2 but it still won't work.

I use TurboTax Premier every year and have never had this problem before. The file is TurboTax 2023.app.zip and I purchased it from Amazon. After I download it and click on the application I get the message The application “TurboTax 2023” can’t be opened.

Any suggestions?

I already downloaded 2023 TT on my Mac and  am ready to file my deceased father's 2023 return. Can I upgrade to Business to file his 1041 on my Mac after I file his 1040?

@cchanin   Sorry no.  The Business program is only available for Windows computers, not Mac.  And also you can't upgrade to Business.  Business is a separate program from the personal versions.  

To prepare a 1041 return, you need to buy Turbo Tax Business Desktop program, not to be confused with the personal Home & Business version. Home & Business is just for personal returns that need schedule C for self employment. TT Business is not available to do online or on a Mac. You can buy the Windows Desktop program here,

Oh sorry that first link I posted didn't go to the right place.  They now have a new Business version that is only online and not the desktop program.

No, just a new tax program.  

I had the same frustration.  And the on-line version charges you just the same for less program, or insists you need a more advanced version than you have been using.

My solution was to look for other options.  I just finished using 1040.com

More basic program, but more than adequate if you are familiar with doing you taxes and know the forms.

Cost $25 to vendor.  No cost to file.

This is my happy accident. Turbo Tax turned me away with my MAC OS 11.7.10 but I am happy to have a cheaper solution to go forward with!
