I was charged $183, and chose to have the fees deducted from my refund amount. I did not receive my refund amount and the $183 was deducted from my bank account anyway. I paid a total of $366. What happened to my refund? What is going on with Turbotax? I plan to file a complaint against them. Some fraudulent activities.
TURBOTAX TOOK MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT
Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund? Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive? Or was your refund seized to pay a debt you owed? if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account. TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

Your tax refund was not sent to TurboTax. TurboTax does not handle your refund at all.
Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.
You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com

Bull **bleep**! I didn't receive a refund and I was charged $183.00 twice. This was unauthorized and fraudulent. I want to be refunded.
@Ler74tay Have that discussion with customer support.
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

If you were charged and paid for the TurboTax account fees twice then you need to contact TurboTax support. Use the key words Billing Issue -
See this TurboTax support FAQ for contacting support - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/what-is-the-turbotax-phone-number/00/25632
Support can also be reached by messaging them on these pages https://www.facebook.com/turbotax/ and https://twitter.com/TeamTurboTax
@Ler74tay When did you file? Maybe the IRS has not sent your refund yet. They are taking a lot longer this year. If the IRS is taking too long to send your refund you still have to pay the fees in time.
See What if the IRS reduces your refund or delays it.
Then when the IRS does send your refund they won't take the fees out again. So you only pay once.
I was overcharged as I am a student at the University of Phoenix in AZ. We get discounted for @$20 and pay no more than $39 for fees. I want my reimbursement. My account is [email address removed] I was charged $59 a piece and something of $117.00 that's crazy. I filed on 01/24/23 for my Federal. Pending on my State.
@srmlpn You may have misunderstood what you were choosing. The state return is an additional $39. If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that is an extra "refund processing fee" of $39. And as for the discount...you had to enter by way of the link that offered the discount. Did you do that?
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

I charge for filling my taxes I was not supposed to be charged. I was filling them through TurboTax free. I was trying to find out why I am not getting my tax money back. What is the problem.
I filled my taxes and it said that I wasn't getting any money back. I want to know what I did wrong. I need my money back.
Why is it telling me that I am not getting any of my refund back.
@KimS50 You mean your tax return shows that you are not getting a refund? What is on line 35a of your Form 1040? How about line 37?

We cannot see your screen, your return or your account. Have you entered ALL of your 2022 information? All your income, etc.? Many tax documents that you need do not arrive until late January or even February, so maybe you do not have it all there yet.
There is no recovery rebate credit (stimulus $) for 2022. The childcare credit is not refundable. The child tax credit is different. And for some people, earned income is different because there is no “lookback” to an earlier year. Those are some of the reasons your refund may be less.
There are a lot of variables that affect your refund or tax due including how much you earned, how much tax you had withheld, your filing status, the number of dependents you claim, your deductions and credits, etc. You may have lost Earned Income Credit or the Child Tax Credit— did a child turn 17? If you received the EIC last year, remember that changes in the amount you earn have a big effect on the amount of EIC you can get. (Sometimes earning more money means less EIC) Are you 65 or older ? If so, your standard deduction is higher. Everyone has a higher standard deduction now so it is harder to use itemized deductions.
And…..the child tax credit is very different for 2022 For 2021 you could get $3600 for a child under 6 or $3000 for a child between 6 and 17 even if you had no income/did not work. That is NOT the way it will work for your 2022 tax return. The “old” rules are back. The maximum amount of the child tax credit is now $2000; the refundable “additional child tax credit” amount is $1500. In order to get that credit, you have to have income from working. The credit is calculated based on the amount you earned above $2500 multiplied by 15%, up to the full $1500. If your child is older than 16 at the end of 2022, you do not get the CTC. But you may still get the non-refundable $500 credit for other dependents instead.
And of course, always check your own data entries, looking for errors such as misplaced decimals or extra zeros.
Print out 2021 and 2022 and compare them side by side to see what is different.

Please see this Help Article for information on how to reduce your fees.
If you have already paid, please feel free to contact Customer Support so they can assist you. If you inquire about a refund, you will want to use the keywords billing issues when you call so you get to the right person.
The problem isn't the fee, or how many times I was charged; the problem is that it wasn't disclosed, nor was I shown a subtotal before they charged my credit card. This is predatory.
