If TurboTax allows you to submit your return for e-filing then any subsequent rejection over AGI (or a problem with a SSN) is because of issues with the IRS database.
TurboTax does not "reject" returns, only the IRS and states can "reject" a return.
TurboTax can prevent you from e-filing if it detects an error in your return, but it cannot "reject" your return after allowing you to transmit it to the IRS.
What if I entered the correct AGI and I’m still getting an e-file reject?
It’s really frustrating. I waiting an hour on hold for the IRS and they admitted that the system automatically rejects people and they have no control over the AGI issue. The lady actually told me to play with the AGI number by rounding up or down to see if it works. I entered 0 and it eventually was accepted. But IRS says there is nothing they can do and the tax companies say there is nothing they can do! Someone needs to be held accountable for this issue!
But it isn’t only TurboTax, I filed with H and R block and same thing happened to me! That leads me to believe it’s an IRS issue! However I called and they couldn’t really offer a solution as it’s not humans rejecting the returns it’s an automated system. She told me to round up or down on the AGI number, but rejected again. I eventually found out here to enter 0 and it actually worked!
Yes I did all that. Got the tax record off the IRS website, called the IRS and verified they have the same number. Still rejected. She told me round up or down a little and try that. Still rejected. The 0 trick worked finally, but I am seeing a lot of people on here it isn't working for. Btw I used H and R block not TurboTax, so this is clearly an IRS issue. So frustrating! Who wants to file by mail when you’ve paid money to file Online for faster refunds!
Did you get your fee refunded and a resolution to the AGI issue? im having the same problem
I spoke at length with a Turbox tax customer rep earlier today. It truly looks to be an IRS problem. It is happening with other tax software as well. The IRS has some big challenges on its hands. I don't see a need to be refunded because the Turbotax software is great - I should have used it years ago, I love it!
No. I used H and R block and it eventually went through after entering a 0 for AGI. Luckily that worked for me, or I would have asked for a refund if I had to mail it in.
If your AGI is correct and your Tax Return is still being rejected, then you will have to print and mail it in. Please see this TurboTax FAQ, What if I entered the correct AGI and I’m still getting an ...
This is a TurboTax bug, it is not an IRS bug. HR Block has a similar bug. All I know is that many of us used FreeTaxUSA to file the SAME data with the SAME AGI and our returns were accepted within minutes,
Put $0 and it works. It will be accepted. That's what the IRS has in their system and expect you to put. They need to update their database. You're welcome.
IRS rejects 2020 return. 100% certain the 2019 AGI is accurate.
Want IRS to accept 2020 return.
But When did you file 2019? If it was late in the year or you mailed it, try putting in zero for the AGI. And see, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rejections/help/what-if-i-entered-the-correct-agi-and-i-m-still-ge...

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
For AGI Reject code 031

Indeed. I tried with the zero (several times) but it never went through/was rejected. The problem seems to be with the IRS. So I mailed federal and state in via certified mail, return receipt. Sigh.
try entering 0 in AGI when you enter your information when e-filing. There must be a bug in software. When I entered 0 it accepted my federal and state e- filing after trying 5 or 6 times with entering 2019 correct AGI $ amount. I don’t know why it worked but putting 0 in worked.
Thank you for the advice.
