In case on one has responded you must put a value in block 16 of your 1099-R. It should be the value on block 1
In case on one has helped fic this problem, just make sure block 16 of your 1099-R has a value >0 and it should be what you have entered in block 1
We have seen successful transmissions when making the following corrections:
The state information shown in boxes 14 through 16 of Form 1099-R need to all have a value in them if there are any state taxes withheld. If your Form 1099-R does not show a state ID number, enter the Federal ID number. If your Form 1099-R does not show a state distribution (box 16), enter the distribution amount shown in box 1. Do not enter zero for the distribution amount if state taxes were withheld. Also, if there were no state taxes withheld, do not enter a zero in that box. Instead leave it blank without even a zero.
This doesn't make sense. I don't have a box 16 on my 1099R or on TurboTax
Thank you for the advice. The thing I don't understand is this. If I have set up a payment from my bank account for the school tax to be completed in April, is that going to happen, or do I need to send in a check with Form 100?
Since this has been going on (according to these comments, for over a month now, shouldn't Intuit get on the ball and track this problem down?). BTW, its nearly impossible to talk to anyone at the State Tax department about this.
I have the same problem. From what I've seen in comments, I need to mail an Ohio SD 100 form. What I don't understand is this.
Since I've already set up, through TurboTax, an electronic bank payment for the school taxes, is that payment going to go through, even though we got this OH-PIT-068 error, or do I need to send a paper check with my paper SD-100 form. Sure don't want to pay this twice! I tried to ask the State of Ohio, but getting to someone by phone or email isn't working.
OK my school district tax return was rejected with code oh-pit-068. But I did NOT have withholdings for the school district tax which is the reason this post is saying it was rejected. And maybe I don't understand your response noted below.
You are saying I have to file a paper copy. Did I just pay extra with Turbo Tax to file the School District Tax with e-file but in the end Turbo Tax does not support e-file of school district tax?
You don't need to file an amended SD return since it was rejected, thus never filed.

If your return was electronically accepted, then you should have indicated during the efiling that you wanted the money to be taken out of the same account as your OH state return. Then no check is necessary. Was your SD return accepted yet?

Are you saying there is no box 16 on your 1099R in TurboTax?
I did not have a block 16 on my paper 1099R. My SD return was rejected several times until I finally gave in and put the dollar amount from box 1 into box 16 on the Turbo Tax form as was suggested and my return was accepted. I still don't understand why that is required but it works.
In my case, I believe the problem might be that the 1099-R I got from my bank shows Ohio Tax withheld in box 14 - but the State Distribution in box 16 is blank. The error says one possibility is "The state distribution must be greater than the tax withheld." I can change box 16 to be the amount in box 1 (Gross Distribution) but is that OK to do? The form from my bank has it blank? If I get a corrected 1099-R from them - do I need to refile my state and Federal forms as well? I do not even know how to refile the Ohio School District form? Turbo Tax offers ZERO help for me through the program - like everyone else the "Help Me Fix It" path just tells me my State Refund then back to the page showing the form was rejected.
You can add the state distribution on box 16. That does not affect the tax returns, just the filing. The federal and state already have the same form. The program is confused that you paid tax on zero dollars so help it out.
How do you refile an Ohio School District return that was rejected? If I go to e-file - it asks me about the federal which was already e-filed and accepted? Do I just say mail the federal and state? Will I be able to then e-file just the Ohio School District form? Will I have to pay another $25 to do it? The "Help me fix it path" is broken and leads back to the e-file status page - no way to re-e-file from there?

You can go through the efile process. It will say that you are only refiling the SD-100 and will list the federal and state as already filed. No, you won't pay the $25 fee again to refile the SD return.
