I have no penalty, but Turbotax filled out a form 2210, checked Box A and wrote in "85% waiver". I submitted the return, but it was rejected

I'm an old civil engineer, not a CPA or a lawyer. I would read the instructions to see if Form 2210 is filled out correctly and, if so, I would include it. If IRS doesn't like it, they will mail you a letter telling you what to correct and what you owe, if anything. It's happened to me several times and it's no big deal.
You have until April 15th to file but if you have a refund coming you will want to get in early.

2/22 Update fixed the problem for me.  I simply applied the update and resubmitted.  Federal and state accepted !

Thanks,  I just d/l'd the update (Mac), and it now generates a statement with 2210 with the explanation "85% Waiver", so looks like its now fixed.  Just re-filed (and awaiting acceptance)

Edit: Rejected :(  I'll wait for next weeks update.

Edit: Tried again today (5 days later), no software update, however, Federal Return Accepted (with form 2210, Box A checked and with attachment) 🙂

Something within the programming is causing the 85% Waiver worksheet to be filled-out which leads to Part 2, "option A" box to be checked. There is no way that my return should have the option A box checked. I compared my return last year to this year and they are very similar. Last year the option A box was not checked on this form and the form was not included in the filing. This year it is. Hoping that the 3/1/19 fix corrects this improperly checked box!

I finally made it work and I am using a Mac!  I think the secret is to download any updates, then quit the Turbotax program and re-open it.  If that doesn't work, go through your taxes again and make sure everything is entered correctly (don't rely on the review).  Check your forms to make sure the form 2210 is not there.  Again quit the application and re-load it.  I was then able to re-submit.  Frankly, I think this problem with the form 2210 waiver should never have occurred in the first place!  And, Turbo tax's solution is of no help!

I had the same issue and used one of the solutions above. Really bad of TT to have this major error!!

It appears Turbo Tax is filing my return without the explanation to form 2210.  I have completed the explanation to form 2210 and refile but continuously gets rejected for no explanation.  After the last rejection I opened the program as was told the return had been fixed and to refile.  It was again rejected after 15 minutes with a note an explanation had to be attached to 2210.  Don't know how to get Turbo Tax to submit the explanation with the return.  Any thoughts?

Turbo Tax owes all of us affected by this a quick fix or a partial refund for the inconvenience of having to print and mail the return. This is not what I signed up for!

I tried removing the form 2210....But TurboTax Immediately generates one to take its place!!!  I understand why they ask for survey results BEFORE you get your rejections!  So I've been rejected 3 times now.   I've been using TTax  for Over 20 years and this is the WORST mess I've seen.   I also tried overriding and placing a zero in line 27 - which apparently worked for someone else, but the checking will
not allow me to refile with an override.   If I have to mail a return In,  I want my e-filing cost back!!!!   I use TurboTax to avoid the mess at the Post Office!

I just resubmitted for the Nth time at high noon HST. At my age I keep forgetting what m plan is after reading all the comments and instructions. I went to Forms, clicked in Form 2210 and hit delete. Looked at the list and it was at the bottom of the Federal forms. Clicked it again and it came up. Went to the area where A was checked and put the pointer on the B box and RIGHT clicked selected override and clicked on the B box. The X in the A box went away and the X in the B box stayed. I then returned to where it was ready to check for errors. I got that done and it had one error, that the B box was checked but the form shouldn't be sent. There was a checked box just below and I clicked on the box and it cleared. The program seemed happy and I proceeded to submitting the Nth +1 time.

I checked what was submitted, ten pages of forms and schedules but NO Form 2210. Maybe Monday will bring good news when I rise before the sun.

"This issue is scheduled to be fixed in an update that is currently planned to be released on 3/1/2019."

Here's the link to TurboTax regarding the 2210 issue.

It looks like there are two viable solutions to this problem that have worked for some people in this thread:
1) Fix the incorrect Box A checkmark by right-clicking and overriding. Unfortunately, the Mac versions don't allow for this, but I guess it works on the Windows versions.
2) Trick TurboTax into thinking it doesn't need to fill out a form 2210 (and actually, it's a programming error that it thinks it should). You can do this by searching on "underpayment penalty" and going through the interview for that section again. Put in a zero for your tax liability in 2017 (which, I know, is not correct - ONLY do this if you really don't owe a penalty). That way, TT will correctly conclude that you've paid enough and will skip over form 2210. The info about last year's liability is only used by TT to determine if it needs to do a 2210. The little white lie doesn't go to the IRS.
