Was your return Accepted? When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Just paying the fee doesn't file the return. After you paid did you continue on to the very end and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?
Then only the IRS can tell you. IRS Where's my refund https://www.irs.gov/refunds/
Make sure you are using the refund amount from your actual federal tax return and not the combined amount Turbo Tax showed you at the end. That was for federal and state combined.
Maybe you didn't finish filing it or it Rejected. When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. what does it say?
Why does it say I cannot e file because the control number is wrong on the w2 control number is 1
W2 box d Control number is not needed. See
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/forms/help/i-have-no-box-d-or-control-number-on-my-w-2/00/26469
Just one of my W-2 photos has, already taken over 20 minutes to download & it's not done yet? Is it stuck? Can I go back & try again? It just says not done yet. On an IPad
Did you get this resolved?
My daughter got a 1099 for working for a childcare service and no 8919 this is very confusing when she started to to get taxes. What does she do ?
If she received a 1099-MISC with income reported in boxes 7 or 3, she will be subject to self-employment tax. However, she likely will not receive a Form 8919.
Follow these steps if you have a 1099-MISC:
I had insurance on my child since he was 7 years old. He recently passed. Is the proceeds taxable to me.
Generally, life insurance proceeds you receive as a beneficiary due to the death of the insured person, aren't includable in gross income and you don't have to report them. Ref: IRS. Life Insurance & Disability Insurance Proceeds
My son is 18 years old and did he did his taxes on his own to qualify for federal aid. So, I didn’t claim him federally. but on turbo tax it says I can claim him as a dependent for state filing in California and it won’t affect his federal aid. Is this correct?
No, California has the same qualifications for dependents as the federal.
The dependents you claim on your California return are usually the same as those you claim on your federal return.
You can claim a California dependent only if you meet the following conditions:
-The person is eligible to be your federal dependent.
-You didn't claim them so they could get a tax break for education expenses on their own federal return.
Thank you for answering my question.
I didn't file my 2016 and 2017 1098 T forms. Is it possible to file them electronically this year.
No, you cannot just e-file a couple of 1098T forms. If you did not include them when you filed your 2016 and 2017 tax returns you can amend those returns---but ONLY if you were not claimed as someone else's dependent for those tax years. If you were a dependent on someone else's return, that is who gets to claim the education credits.
If you are hoping to amend 2016 for a refund, you must get it mailed by April 2020 or it will be too late.
Amended returns cannot be e-filed. You are talking about two separate tax years, so that means two amended tax returns.
A 1040X cannot be e-filed. It must be printed and mailed. It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return. It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.
Wait about 3 weeks from mailing and you can check the status of your amended return:
