You cannot reach the IRS by phone at this time, they are closed.

Try reaching out to your local Taxpayer Advocate Service office - these have not closed down, although some of their services are limited due to various IRS department shutdowns.

They are in the best potential position to help you, if anyone can.  You can find the one that serves your area here: Taxpayer Advocate Service.

TAS is experiencing very high volume and they are limited in what they can do at the time being, so be prepared that you may also get no response here as well but it's the only other option available at this time.

hey mine was accepted Feb. 2nd, and I'm still waiting for my return, keeps telling me it's still being processed. Got an email from some one that told me I had to reach out to my tax Taxpayer Advocate Service office, which we all know it's Turbo.  So you know there is no help there

The IRS doesn't send out emails, so I would be wary of one that told you to contact any department.

However, the Tax Advocate Service (TAS) is currently operational, although their call volume is very high and their ability to assist is limited by the IRS department closures.

Many pending issues at the IRS are, unfortuantely, not able to be resolved until the IRS resumes normal operations.

As this is a public forum, we cannot contact you.

However, the IRS has been taking longer than normal to process refunds.

I'm losing my house, can't get a job because my income tax and stimulus money was direct deposited into my EXWIFES bank account (no my name is not associated with the bank account) I've contacted the bank, my bank (currently overdrawn 400$) I have 0.68¢! Childsupport has suspended my license,Insurance lapsed on my truck, I have court on 19th! I'll most likely be jailed All because someone committed fraud and IRS won't answer the phone, they are susposed to contact the bank on my behalf and have them look into the deposits if any are not in the name of the account holder they are to be returned to payer. What are my kids going to do when I'm jailed, Please I'm begging any one please help! I have called Regions corporate, my banks corporate office, many emails to any Irs email address I could find, I've even called the Georgia State of Representatives! I suppose someone can commit such a dectfull act and no one cares about it One American Dad asking for help, Ps I DON'T WANT HER OR ANYONE TO GO TO JAIL PLEASE I'M BEGGING JUST WANT WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY MINE, THAT ALL, I DONT TRUST LAW ENFORCEMENT!

It depends.

The IRS issues a lot of refunds within 21 days, but it has been taking longer with the stimulus payment being issued in addition to the tax refunds.

I filed my taxes February 2nd and expecting a large refund.  I have been calling the IRS since the middle of March.  I have followed the prompts Turbo Tax says to press and when I get the option to speak to someone, it says due to high calling volume, we are unable to process your request.  Please call back on our next business day.  I understand with the Covid 19 pandemic that the offices are stretched, but this is ridiculous.  If the offices are closed, how was my payment of over a thousand dollars taken out of my account on April 1st.  I want my refund now.  How can I speak to or chat with a real person other than the prompts on your website.
