What did you buy?  Did you buy the 2018 program download? You have to download and install it on your computer.  The Online versions are closed.

The deadline for preparing or e-filing a 2018 return was on October 15, 2019.  You cannot use online TurboTax to prepare your 2018 return.   You can purchase desktop software and download it to a full PC or Mac.  You will not be able to e-file; your return must be printed, signed and mailed.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

I understand the online filing deadline has passed; but, I purchased to file 2018 tax returns. I did not see any disk being mailed to my home confirmation. Can I fill out the 2018 taxes online. I had chosen "switch to online" option, when I had made the purchase.

Sounds like you might have bought the Desktop program download.  You can not do 2018 online anymore.  Online is closed to get ready for 2019.

You need to download the 2018 program and install it on your computer.  How to download your program…..

Same issue here guys.  Your help website was designed by a bunch of morons or brilliant greedy f****ers. Your published solution does not work and the site continually loops you to re-purchase the product.  I can easily find my paid order confirmation for online products previously purchased.

However when searching under that same order confirmation the download button should appear right there when it locates it not send you all over the website claiming to help, but without an actual human resolving the issue. **bleep**ty support here, never again. This product is super for one-time use, not to be used multiple times to go back and try to re-use.

Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2018 returns is now permanently closed.  You had until midnight on Tuesday, October 15 to finish and attempt to e-file; if your e-file was rejected you had until October 20 to make corrections and re-file. Now it is too late to efile any return … they must be mailed in.

To finish a prior year return started in TT online:https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2559403-how-do-i-finish-a-prior-year-return-that-i-started-in-turb

If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.

If you didn't already pay for your 2018 product prior to the shutdown, you can either purchase directly from the TurboTax website as mentioned above, or you may find the product at a discount as a download at Amazon, etc.    CAUTION:  There are a lot of scam sites, so do not try to purchase from any "too-good-to-be-true" discount site on the Internet that you find in a search.   You might end up with pirated software, ID theft, malware, etc.   Only a few large well-known sites like Amazon, NewEgg, Staples, Office Depot, etc., are authorized to sell TurboTax downloads.

If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late.  If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe.  Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.

@hatetbtax If you did not start your 2018 return at all, and need to purchase the download:

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2016, 2017, or 2018 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

@phperez98373 If you purchased the CD/download then any version of the desktop software has all of the forms and schedules you need.   If for some reason you want to upgrade to a higher version of the software then you can do that by clicking the word "upgrade" in the tool bar at the top.

SALE OF HOUSE

If your gain was more than  $250,000 filing Single, or more than $500,000 filing Married Filing Jointly the sale must be reported on your tax return.  Whether you re-invested the gain in to another house is irrelevant.  If you  have a Form 1099-S go to Federal>Wages and Income>Less Common Income>Sale of Home (gain or loss)

If you owned and lived in the home as your primary residence for at least 2 of the last 5 years on the date of the sale, you do not have to report the home sale if the gain is less than $250K filing Single, or less than $500K filing Married Filing Jointly (and you both owned and lived in the home for at least 2 years).
