No one in the user forum can find your child's Social Security number.

 If you have claimed your child as a dependent on a previous tax return you can find the SSN on your Form 1040.   Or you can get a new card from Social Security.

@Soso123 As stated in the reply directly above your own post----if you have filed a previous tax return that claimed your child as a dependent you can get your child's SSN from it.   Or you can get it from Social Security

You need to get the EIN from your W-2.   Your employer has until January 31 to issue your W-2.

W-2's come from your employer, and they have until January 31 to issue it.  Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it.  You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

And….SAVE YOUR OWN W-2!  TURBOTAX DOES NOT SAVE IT FOR YOU.  TurboTax will not have a copy of it in your account and will not have an image even if you snapped a photo.  It is up to you to save it for your own records as stated on the back of the W-2.

My son [PII removed]. I am his mother . his name was later changed to last name [PII]. As the dad finally took paternity test. I am trying to file him on my tax return I do have a previous tax return but they are from what's a 2010/2011 is there any way that I can get his social security number from those forms

No, no one here has access to your personal tax records. There are some things you can do to find your child's social security number.

If you log into your TurboTax account, you will be able to see both last year tax return and if you file this year, it is likely your child's information is there as well.

You can contact the Social Security Administration and get a copy of your child's Social Security card. The card takes a few weeks, but after you verify the information, they will give you a print out. You can call 1 (800) 772-1213 or click here to visit online.

You can access your tax records through the IRS. Click here to get started.
