You cannot upload a pdf. If you have a copy of your W-2 in hand then just key it in. It takes about a minute or two.
Every 2020 W-2 that you received must be reported on your 2020 tax return, even if they are for small amounts. Remember that each one of those W-2’s has your Social Security number on it, and that income was reported to the IRS by the employer. You do not want to get in trouble with the IRS for under-reporting your income.
ALL of your W-2’s must be entered on the SAME tax return.
Go to Federal>Wages & Income to enter a W-2.
After you enter the first one, you click Add Another W-2.
W-2's come from your employer, and they have until February 1 to issue it. Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it. You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

And….SAVE YOUR OWN W-2! TURBOTAX DOES NOT SAVE IT FOR YOU. TurboTax will not have a copy of it in your account and will not have an image even if you snapped a photo. It is up to you to save it for your own records as stated on the back of the W-2.
You cannot upload a PDF to the TurboTax online edition tax returns.

What you are saying is simply not true. I can upload a PDF, turbotax literally tells me to browse for a PDF of my W2.
Are you telling me this function that turbotax says they support is just a fake button to waste my time? I don't believe so.
I did talk with someone from turbotax, they said there have been issues with the W2 upload system today and to check back in a few days. Also clearing cookies and cache may help. I will post an update in a few days if this feature is working again.
In the time you have spent fighting the technology and posting about it here you could have keyed in your W-2 a few dozen times.
...and nothing would ever get fixed, they offered a service and it is broken. maybe the user is not in a hurry and just wants to use the upload service. Letting devs know about issues is very important. What the user is doing is helpful/productive and your comment is not.

Another option would be to take a picture of your w2 which would be done through the app. Please review the article below.
How do I take a picture of my W-2 in the mobile app?
Also commenting here as the software actually prompts users to do something which doesn't work...and then all the "experts" keep saying, "oh isn't how it's done," or providing a work around by logging into the phone app... or saying "key it in." SMH
You talk about your time being wasted, but you could just as easily enter your W-2 manually. Instead, you sit idly and wait around for someone to make it "easier." Why not go ahead and enter it manually? It is not that hard.
