How to get out of the surprise charge of $44 for premium services benefits?

I had to pay for Deluxe because I needed to file one additional form, then was surprised with an additional $44 charge at the end for "Premium Services Benefits", which I don't want. How do I reject and not pay for those?

Are you in California?  If you are in California and want to have the fees deducted from your federal refund you have to pay for premium service or you can avoid the fee by paying upfront with a credit card.

You will need to pay for using TurboTax by paying upfront with a card before you file.

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons:

• Remove Premium Services
• Remove MAX Defend & Restore
• Remove a state
• Remove PLUS Help & Support
• Remove Pay With Your Refund
