How to access the 2021 tax software when I have turbo tax SE

The 2021 program has closed for the switch to the 2022 program.  So do you just need a copy of the return that was filed or do you need to still file the 2021 return ?

What?  Online is closed now.  You have to buy the Desktop download program for 2021 and prior.  Did you start it last year?  How to finish a return you started online,

Sorry it's too,late to start a 2021 online return or use the mobile app, either on Turbo Tax or the IRS. And too late to efile 2021.

To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here,

You will need a full Windows or Mac to install it on.

And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

Then when you file for 2022 you need to enter 0 for the 2021 AGI since you are filing 2021 late.

Still need to file it. It is complete except for a review and maybe a few adjustments. I need to access it and access the software to modify it. I have turbo tax SE.

Turbo Tax SE is the Online version.  You have to switch to the Desktop program to finish now.  you have to download the .tax2021 file from online to open in the Desktop program. But right now online access might be unavailable to get ready for next year.  Try later.

How do I save my TurboTax Online return as a tax data file?

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).  Just enter some basic personal info like your name and address then click on the State tab at the top and it should ask if you want to download the state program.
