How many computers can a turbotax installed on using one serial number?

my current computer was broken so I need to down load turbo tax into a new computer, but it told me "This license code has already been associated with an account. Please check that account and look for it in Downloads."  and what shall I do?

If you installed from the CD it seems you can not download it from online now.  You can't do both CD and download.   See the info on this FAQ

So you need to call in to get the download pushed to your account.

When you first installed your software did you use the CD to install or did you install it from the TurboTax website? If your initial install was from the TurboTax website, then that's the method you need to use to download again. I ran into exactly the same problem. I get the "This license code has already been associated with an account. Please check that account and look for it in Downloads." error when I tried to download it on my laptop, which has no CD drive. How did you resolve this problem, naud923?

The TurboTax software can be installed on up to 5 computers that you personally own.  The license is valid for only the purchaser of the software, no one else.

I get its 5 different computers. But can you e-file more than 5? Let's say you e-file 5 on computer 1, can you e-file another 2 on computer 2?

Unfortunately, no you cannot. The maximum number of e-files that can be filed by 1 person is 5. This is regulated by the IRS and not TurboTax.

I installed on my Windows laptop (for convenience) then realized my previous returns are on my Mac desktop (doh!).  A understand I can install to more than one computer but I cannot seem to find the Mac download now. Help?!

The software does not cross systems, so a Windows only downloads on Windows, ect. If you need the opposite version, please contact us here to request a refund or they can provide  a code for the opposite system. @CamoMama

Do you want to install it on the Mac?  You can transfer last year's return into the Windows program.

You need to copy the tax file ending in .tax2020 from the Mac to Windows.  How to find the tax file,

How did you install it on Windows?  Did you use the CD or by downloading from online?   If you used the CD you might be able to use the CD for Mac.

You can get an inexpensive external drive or maybe borrow one. People are having luck installing the same CD on both Windows and Mac. It doesn't work to install on the same OS but works to install on a different OS. And the new thing is if you first install from the CD you can't use the download (except for calling in).

If you can't install from the CD to Mac  you will need to call in and get the Mac Download put in your account and a new License Code.  But a lot of the phone support won't do that.  You have to try to get someone who knows they can give it to you.

You want to buy your turbo tax from a reputable store, like Costco, or directly from the turbo tax web site.  If you don't you may get trojan ware, and get hacked in all the nasty possible ways you can imagine.
