So I have had multiple conversations with so called tax experts..And was told by more than one that the irs has possession of my tax forms..But when I contacted the irs they told me they have not recieved or will until the 27th of January. Turbotax experts even went as far to give me a false submission id number. I called to verify this number and was told again that they won't accept or issue any mef numbers until the 27th.. at first these experts just kept telling me to wait 24 hours and promising that the irs has possession of my taxes..I can't help thinking that this is somehow not legal..Any help will be appreciated.

TurboTax allowed you to “e-file” —- but now your return is in pending.
MY RETURN IS IN PENDING—what does that mean?
Did you e-file? Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?” If so, your return is now in “pending” on a server. Do not try to change anything while your return is in pending. On January 29 the IRS will begin to accept/reject e-files. Watch your emails—including your spam folder—for the notice about whether your e-file has been accepted or rejected. If your return is rejected you will be able to make corrections before re-filing. If the return you e-filed is accepted you will have to wait until it has been fully processed and then amend it to fix any mistakes or omissions. It has been taking the IRS four to six months—sometimes longer—to process amended returns. If you e-filed your state return there will be another email later that tells you if the state was accepted or rejected.
WARNING: Do not try to change anything on your return while it is pending.
When users ask us here in the user forum about e-filing this early, we suggest waiting. There are no posts in the user forum with your username Confused in michigan, so we did not have the chance to advise against early e-filing. It seems you e-filed and then started looking into when the IRS would start processing your return. Once you e-file, there is no getting the return back. You have to wait until the return is either accepted or rejected.
Early e-files sit on a server ---waiting --- until the IRS opens and begins to process returns at the end of January. They take a few---- a few ----- e-files as a couple of test batches ahead of the end of January, but that is done very randomly and there is no telling whose returns will be in the test batches. Everyone else---whether they used TurboTax, H & R Block, Jackson Hewitt, TaxSlayer, etc.-----everyone else waits for the IRS to open at the end of January. When you e-file, you get back two emails. The first one says your return has been submitted; the second will tell you if the IRS accepted or rejected your return. If you filed a state return there will be a third email telling you if the state accepted or rejected your return. All you can do now is wait and watch your emails for information. Check your spam folder, too.
You are dismissing the whole being lied to part.. I now understand that they won't file until the 27th.. And it was none of the experts that told me
Those experts were not deliberately lying to you and they just did not understand how the early filing works. Their calls will be monitored and they will be told that they were wrong and educated to give the correct answers.
Ok if they are just ignorant of the way it works. Then why give me a fake submission id number? A number that was completely fictitious. Alongside of telling me that they can see on their side where the irs has taken possession of my forms.
@Confused in michigan Not dismissing anything. I am not a paid employee. I am a volunteer---another user of TT. Sorry for your plight, but whether the experts you talked to "lied" or are new seasonal hires in need of coaching at the beginning of the tax season, does not change anything. While we advise against early e-filing, it is not illegal for TT or any of the other tax software companies to allow it. They all do it to capture marketshares of the business. E-filing opened a couple of days ago --- they do that every year. And every year, lots of people e-file as early as they can and then wait on the servers. Some people understand that their return will be stuck on the servers, but go ahead and e-file early anyway for various reasons. And, sadly, some people do not understand that their returns will not go to the IRS instantly in early January, and then they are disappointed to find out that they have to wait.
When asked a direct question..Like ...Where are my tax forms filed at this moment? Are you saying you wld answer with the irs.
They are probably new to TurboTax. Their calls will be reviewed for accuracy. They will be corrected and disciplined for the error. TurboTax has very high standards for accuracy and they normally only get two strikes before they are terminated. That is one strike against them.
Is 20 years experience new? The least amount of experience with any of the experts i spoke with was 2.
Their experience does not have to be with TurboTax. It is 20 years of experience doing taxes. They may have worked for companies that did not do early filing and store the returns until the IRS opened. Their work will be reviewed and they will be informed of their mistake and their tax accuracy rating will drop. Intuit takes tax accuracy very seriously and will not tolerate agents that give false information. They are supposed to verify any information before they give it to the customer. The inaccurate information that they gave will not be tolerated.
That is very good to hear but are you positive of your conviction. I can get not one expert to tell me that..they have not sent my forms to the irs..With the faith you have in them..Do you not think that simple truth one person wld give me.

"Confused.."--you have multiple threads in the forum about this issue. The TurboTax phone team is looking into the calls that you made to see if there are some customer support folks or "experts" who need some coaching regarding e-files that are in pending.
