I understand, same experience. took me 4 hours to figure out same issue. it can be done. let me know if you still need help. I do not like too much typing.
I installed thrbotax from CD on an older machine yesterday, and decided that my ;new machine would be more practical. When I installed it on the newer machine and tried to open it I got the above error message. What do I do now?
Really dude? That was the longest most winded piece of a post I've seen on here, so congrats. It's more likely not to be read by anybody with respect for their time because it's so long. Heck, I didn't even read past the first 2 sentences. You need to get out of your **Bleep** abut being "under privileged" or whatever that rant was about. From my life's experience of 40 years or so, the person you're replying to is 100% correct about the outsourcing of customer service & the huge amount of stuff lost in translation. If you can't realize they are right you're an idiot.
I HAVE BEEN A CLIENT OF TURBO / INTUIT FOR THE LAST 18 YEARS. EACH YEAR THE SYSTEM HAS DIVORCED ITSELF FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE! I AM GETTING AN ERROR "THE PROGRAM IS RUNNING UNDER ANOTHER ACCOUNT"! keep getting error message 70001

I have the desktop version and when I went to open it up today it gave that same code and says under another user please login except mine is the desktop version so no need to. Still doing it cant get into the software at all wont even open because of that error message. tried to uninstall reinstall and doesnt let me at all.
I wonder if it is related to this:
The TurboTax user license allows one user to install copies of TurboTax on up to five computers that the user owns. You can prepare multiple returns, including returns for other people. The license does not allow one copy to be shared among different people. You are required to log into your TurboTax online account when you install the program for the first time. This locks one particular copy of the program and one license code to one user account.
Was the software already registered to a TurboTax Account?
