I'm having the same problem: error code 70001. This thread seems to go back to 2019, and I haven't found a solution in any of the posts. Can someone please tell me how to contact TurboTax support? Is there any support for this product? It certainly costs enough to include software support.
If you are getting an error for a duplicate profile, you can try these steps:
The link doesn't work for me. When I enter my e-mail, it just opens the only account I have. There's no way to see any other accounts.
Try entering your Phone Number instead of your Email. You might have accounts associated with that.
If you're using TurboTax Desktop, open Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del). See if you have two TurboTax processes running. If so, close them both, then try opening TurboTax again.
Here's more info on Error 7001:
Re: Error 70001 "Already Running Under Another Account"
This is a spontaneous connectivity issue that usually resolves itself if your connection to TurboTax remains intact while the process you are working on completes.
If the issue doesn't resolve on its own, close TurboTax, restart your computer, and reopen TurboTax.
If that does not solve your problem, consider some other things you can try:
Some users report being able to close the second account using Task Manager.
Another user reports:
Your Windows user name must exactly match the one you used previous years even if you have a new computer. Example: last year when you used TT you were "Jeff" but new computer lists you as "Jeff Smith" and TT will give you error code 70001. Create a new Windows user account with administrative privileges and use that when you log in to TT.
Here's how to Contact TurboTax Support for more help.
error 70001 seems to be a big plague and I got it. One suggestion was to run Turbotax update, which Turbotax forced met to do. Turbotax was working but then broke once updated. Was almost finished with return when i forced me to update and then hung on 70001. Nothing works thus far.
@cramspamcoxnet Here's what I've found so far after trying all the suggestions from this community, none of which worked for me. I called TurboTax and spent about an hour on the phone. I thought they were helpful at the time. They seem to prove that the problem is a conflict with my anti-virus software. When I disable my anti-virus software, TurboTax will run but I wouldn't recommend filing your taxes online with no anti-virus protection. I've since contacted the anti-virus software support and am working with them to try to resolve. They haven't found a fix so far either.
I'm not about to file taxes with no anti-virus protection, so I may have to find something other than TurboTax. I use Webroot SecureAnywhere on my machine for security, and for years I haven't had any issues running any software with it, including TurboTax versions for prior years. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate some help.
