Question

Disability income

I just filled out taxes and going back through the review I didn’t see my wife’s income listed. She is on disability unable to work. I just want to make sure there’s no mistakes that will cause us problems. How can I make sure her disability income was captured on the return so it doesn’t look like I tried to leave it off?

  Thanks

What type of form is reporting her disability income?  A SSA-1099?  A W-2?  Something else?

Did you enter her SSA-1099 in the correct section of the program?

To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

Or enter ssa-1099 in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to ssa-1099

Social Security benefits received are reported on the federal tax return Form 1040 on Line 6a.  The taxable amount of the benefits, if any, are reported on Line 6b
