TurboTax Desktop 2024 forces "Sign In", but it doesn't accept it. (My Sign-in info is correct, because it works on the website, just not on the Desktop program.) Requesting it to Text to my phone gets the phone code, but still doesn't get through the Sign-in step. I have correctly "Updated" this Desktop software a couple times, so it *was* working. But now the "Sign In" is in an infinite loop of not getting Signed In.

Hi, y'all. I was hoping someone would know how to help me. Here's some more info:
** I've used the various Desktop TurboTax programs for many years, and I've never had this current problem.
** Recently, I've tried to find solutions via the online support system and calling in. The systems don't recognize my problem.
** The only technically related help was from 2023 and the person solved it by getting rid of a utility ("Microsoft PowerToys") that was apparently causing conflicts. But I don't have that on my PC, and I wouldn't know how to find any current conflict.
** I also found where a person reinstalled TurboTax and that didn't help them.
** I have, however, deleted cache files, and that didn't help.
** On my current issue, the top left of the "Sign in" form says, "TurboTax 2024 - Activation". (As mentioned previously, I have let it Update successfully a few times this year, and it was Activated.)
Thanks in advance, if someone can help. (If mine is ever solved, I will post here.)

Thanks. I did call, spoke with a support rep, who was trying to help me. Then the phone connection got lost, for some reason. But is there possibly some help online? How could it be that my TurboTax just successfully updated again today (thus proving it realizes it's a legitimate system setup), yet it won't accept my "Sign In" data?
This time, I even let it create a new account (using my email instead of User ID). It worked by sending me a code to my phone, and then set up the new account. But the "Sign In" still won't move on and allow the program to work. It just stays in an infinite loop requesting Sign In info.
I should let y'all know an update: I just found TurboTax recognizing this problem for the whole community. Their heading entry is, "Why am I seeing the sign-in screen after attempting to sign in for activation of 2024 TurboTax Desktop software?" It was added just 4 days ago. They say that they are "currently working to resolve this issue." Yay!
Here it is. Can’t Activate Desktop program error….
I had high hopes. TurboTax was very courteous in letting me know that they were working on a solution. Just today, they let me know that a software fix was now available. I let my Desktop TurboTax do its Update, and it successfully got through that stage. Unfortunately, the program still has the same infinite loop in not letting me Sign In. (I did the normal things, like restart, try both correct set of login accounts, etc.) It just doesn't Sign In.
Update: I called Support again, and the TTax support rep tried to help. He came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea: I should run TTax as Administrator. I really thought that was going to work. But, sadly, it didn't.
Today, I took it upon myself to Uninstall TurboTax; download again the TTax installation program; Run as Administrator the TTax installation program; Run as Administrator the newly installed TTax. It Updated just fine. But the exact same problem happens: The Desktop TurboTax requires me to Sign-In but it won't accept it and keeps asking for me to Sign-In.
Please keep in mind that obviously I have the proper Sign-In credentials because the TTax website had allowed me (after signing in) to download the install program again.
As always, if I'm ever able to run TurboTax, I will let y'all know.
Update: A little bit of bad news; some funny news; and then some tentatively good news:
Day before yesterday I spoke with a third TTax support rep. She was extremely helpful. She had lots of relevant ideas for me to try in getting past this problem of TTax getting stuck at the Sign-In screen. Then, on my own, I tried these, plus more.
** I stopped all possible (regular) programs from running, so there wouldn't be competition of access.
** I turned off my Firewall.
** I turned off my Anti-Virus software.
** I ran everything as Administrator.
** I tried a few other things without success.
One would think it would work then, but it did not.
Then the Funnyism:
** I tried to run TTax in Safe Mode, but Windows doesn't do it that way.
** I researched how to reboot my PC in Safe Mode. That part worked.
** In Safe Mode, I tried running TTax. It tried. Nope.
** Guess what: In Safe Mode you don't have access to the internet. Yet the whole TTax problem was that it thought it needed to Sign-In (which requires internet).
** So I laugh at myself for thinking that might work.
Then the tentative Good News:
** I used a completely different PC, installed TTax, and it worked. I've re-started multiple times, and it's always worked so far.
** It's going to be inconvenient to do my taxes on this other PC for many reasons. But I'm going to plough through. Wish me luck! (:-)
(Maybe) Final Thoughts:
** My original PC where TTax was having some problems runs Windows 10, whereas my other one where TTax is newly working runs Windows 11.
** I'm not at all convinced that the solution was just to run TTax on Win 11. (As said before, TTax had previously worked fine on my current Win 10 PC, including this year).
** There's no guarantee that this new installation will keep working, but I'm hoping for the best that it will.
** Since we don't know the actual cause of the problem, the best I can suggest is try another PC.
I want to sincerely thank all the TTax support reps and possibly many others behind the scenes. I'm very much convinced that *they* are sincere, and I appreciate their help. I look forward to using TurboTax for future years.
