How Do I Go About Getting the $3,148 That’s missing from my return ? IRS took they and then turbo tax charged $217 for processing . My check was sent to a third party SBTPG LLC Which i wasn’t aware of and now 3,148 is missing I spoke with IRS I was receiving 8,126.56 Instead SBTPG issued 4,761.10 into my account this need to be resolved ASAP this isn’t $1 or $2 missing it’s THOUSANDS!
I would suspect your refund was offset. When you spoke with the IRS, they may not have been aware of any offset yet because that is handled by the Bureau of Financial Service. I would call the number below.
The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts. You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.
The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
Hello, on my 1099R from Charles Schwab for an IRA rollover, there is nothing in box 16. When filing using Turbo Tax it will not let me file without entering an amount on lint 16. I enter "0", and it comes back saying that it cannot be less than the state withholding tax. Any help out there?
On your 1099R, anything in box 14? If not then leave boxes 14, 15 & 16 all blank, no spaces. If you have withholding in box 14 then enter the amount from box 2a into box 16 for the state distribution. If box 2a is blank use the amount from box 1.
Thanks, that seems strange, but I hope it works. Will entering that amount have an impact on my state return?
No, this should not have an effect on your state tax return. Most states with income taxes will use a Federal return income figure as a starting point for their return - since that 1099-R amount was already included in your Federal income, the Federal amount that carries over to the state return will not change.
