Anyone else receive this error, " Hmm...it looks like we have hit a slight snag. Please try again or check back later"?

You're going to run into a slight snag with me not being a customer anymore!!! Why can't I file??? I've been continually using/filing with TurboTax (I just threw out my 3 1/2" diskettes from the pre-Intuit version this year...), and I've never had this problem before.

This is frustrating.  I wonder if they'll pay the fines for late filing if their servers can't keep up tomorrow...

I just started getting this message.  I'll hit "RETRY" a bunch of times.  I hope that I can get in within 2 days.

Thank you to the person who suggested signing out as guest. I didn't have that option but I did have the option  to create a new account (used CD this year after using online version last decade). Once I did that it finally went right through after 12 hours of getting no where. Never again, turbo tax. We're done.

Are you logging in to an existing Intuit account or signing up for one? Don't. Try continuing as a Guest. That worked for me.

If you are trying to efile both a federal and a state tax, I was able to submit federal first, and then separately efile state. No idea why that worked, but it did.

Yes, trying to purchase a state and it gave me that error. Really I need to get my taxes done ASAP.

Please try the following steps which may help clear the loop you are experiencing:

  • Log completely out of Turbo Tax.
  • Then, clear your cache and cookies within your browser and completely close out of it.  I have included the Help Articles below if you need assistance with clearing cache or cookies.
  • Re-open the browser and log back into Turbo Tax and see if this fixes the situation.
    • You can also try a different browser as well, or "incognito mode".

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, please reach back out here in the thread and someone will follow up with the next steps.

I am trying to submit my state return and it is trying to charge $40 and even then when I try to pay it hits a snag. I am using the desktop version.

Anyone else receive this error, " Hmm...it looks like we have hit a slight snag. Please try again or check back later"?

I'm getting this message when trying to file my Federal and State taxes in the Desktop version of Turbotax on Windows 11.

After about 1.5 hours  and two people on the phone with 800-4INTUIT, I did not get a resolution and the second person was very difficult to understand and put me on hold for a long time. So I hung up and searched and came here.

I went to https://directpay.irs.gov/directpay/payment?execution=e1s1 to pay my tax bill to avoid penalties since I was not hopeful of getting a resolution in the next few hours (and was not willing to wait on the phone for any longer). I'm not trying disparage the support  team, but sometimes, if a problem takes more than, say 20 min, to resolve, the support team is just not really knowledgeable enough to solve it and may just need more training in this "difficult to solve" scenario.

The advice to file Federal and State separately was helpful. With filing Federal by itself, we bypass the part where we need to enter a credit card (because Federal filing is included as part of the Turbotax cost).  I'm guessing the part about processing the payments is broken or down or overwhelmed.

I have not tried to file my state taxes yet but will try soon (perhaps by that time, the problem will have been discovered and/or resolved).
