I received my mother's house as my share of the estate. I paid the 2024/2025 property tax on 06 December 2024. Every time that I enter the data the following is displayed.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Did you click "Enter info" at the bottom of the screen that you posted? What happens when you do that?
Are you working on the tax return for the estate or on your personal tax return?
Are you using the web-based TurboTax Online or the downloaded desktop TurboTax software? What version are you using (Basic, Deluxe, etc.)?
I have clicked on the "Enter info" link. It returns you to the "Your 2024 Deductions & Credits" page.
This is my 2024 Personal Return. My brother had the honor of preparing our mother's estate return.
I use Turbo Tax Premier. (In 2019, I did get around to tossing my ChipSoft Turbo Tax installation floppy disks.)
It's still early. That section may not be ready yet. There are many many updates to come.
I don't have any trouble entering property tax in TurboTax Premier. I get the same message that you got only if I enter foreign real estate tax. Did you enter the tax in the box for foreign real estate taxes? Is your mother's house in another country? You can only deduct real estate tax on property that is in the United States. Foreign real estate tax is not deductible.
Have always purchased and used well before this time on prior versions and never had this many outstanding issue. Hope the supporting documentation list is added back to the entry tabs.
I had been using Turbo Tax prior to Intuit's acquiring the product from ChipSoft. I have purchased Turbo Tax through Intuit's Turbo Tax Advantage program since it became available.
I retired at age 68 in 2013 and moved to my mother's home in 2019 after my wife died. I have been responsible for the HMO fees and Property Taxes since my mother's death in 2022 although they were paid in the name of my mother's estate. I did pay some cash to the estate for the house to ensure that I and my siblings received equal shares of the estate.
I've never used Intuit's "Walk me through everything" procedure. I've always used the "I'll choose what I work on" approach. This has allowed me to enter data into Turbo Tax as it arrives instead of waiting until March for my my income data to be reported.
Anyway, this is the first time that I've had a problem of entering data into Turbo Tax.
@mcampbellcrockett Are you still having a problem? This post is about entering Social Security but I think it works for other places too.
If you can't enter your Social Security in the boxes or there is a 0 in a box, try deleting the form. See this thread for things to try. See Critter-3 post for how to fix it.

In the box with $0 income double-click in that box and a Supporting Details window should open where you can enter the correct amount. Or highlight the box and use Ctrl + I to open the Supporting Details window
And another post…..

I totally agree, this year things are way more delayed than previous years and many things are not working correctly. In this case they are not even posting a date for the update. In my case it is simply my personal property taxes.
I am having the exact same issue, version 0265.
I've been using TT for decades, this year I feel I can't work for more than five minutes without uncovering a bug.
I'm having the same problem. TurboTax Deluxe 2024, version 0265. Click "Enger info" and TurboTax returns to 2024 Deductions and Credits. With quarterly taxes due next week, it would be great to have an estimate of where I am for the year.

Since you are having an issue with the Deluxe desktop edition, try using the TurboTax calculator TaxCaster to get an estimate of the taxes owed or the tax refund for 2024 - https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/taxcaster/
I am also experiencing the same problem Just spent 20 minutess on phone with a tech. No resolution Please advise if this is a know software problem to be fixed
I had to manually insert the taxes in Schedule A and it bypassed the error. Hope this helps.
