- let's see if we can figure this out; i have a hunch, based on others on these boards
please review your tax return where your child is listed. ALL THE WAY over to the right, there are some check marks listed under two columns called "child tax credit" and "other dependent tax credit"
can you please respond back which column the check marks are under?
ps - dependents over the age of 16 are not eligible for the stimulus $500.
It's a common problem. See https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/re-i-have-three-dependents-and-my-stimulus-paymen...
I marked the child tax credit, and my dependent is 15 years old
The IRS has not given TurboTax any official guidance as to when stimulus payments for eligible person will be released. As long as you provided your direct deposit information/card information or mailing address information, you will receive the additional stimulus when it is released to you (as long as you otherwise qualify for it).
If you don't receive the additional stimulus payment in 2020, you can always receive it as a credit on your 2020 return in 2021. The stimulus is actually an ADVANCE on a credit on your 2020 return.
Child tax credit
I was told to mark child tax credit not the other box
???
Is there a question we can assist with? Please provide detail so we can better help.
Someone responded to my question about marking the child tax credit box , they said that’s the reason I did not get my $500 back on my stimulus check for my dependent that’s is 15 years old.
If your dependent was 15 and you qualified for the CTC, then you are eligible for the stimulus for your dependent (as long as your income was not over the threshold).
Did you have any luck with the IRS Get My Payment tool?
It basically said she was eligible but I still did not receive it
There are 2 boxes to choose from ctc & and she can be claimed as a dependent, so I checked ctc
Based on the information you've shared, you are eligible for the $500 for her. However, the IRS hasn't given us any guidance or information on when they will be the distributing stimulus payments for every eligible person. I would recommend checking the Get My Payment tool once a day for status updates.
So they are saying since people didn’t get their dependents money fir children on stimulus checks you can now claim it on your taxes for 2021 , I don’t file taxes so will they off a non filer again for those who don’t? Or does everyone loose out who don’t file?
