I'm trying to e-file my IL return, and it's making me fix my IL return. I select that button and it says check this entry. Schedule EIC: IL EITC box should be checked. It won't let me e-file without checking this box.

If you are still having an issue with the state tax worksheet, try deleting the state and starting over. It shouldn't take long to get all the information back for the state because most of the data feeds from the federal screen.

How to delete state tax return
If this doesn't resolve the issue, let us know.
I deleted and re-entered the IL tax portion. I'm still getting the same error. Please escalate this to someone that can actually troubleshoot the error. Thanks.
Same exact situation and issue here.

This is just to make it clear that I have not received help of any value since my original post on Sunday. There's no way that I can find to get help on this issue outside of posting here, unless I pay for live support. Customers should not have to upgrade to live support to get help when Turbo Tax has a product error. I give Turbo Tax zero stars, and will likely never use the product again unless they find a way to resolve my issue quickly and improve their communication.
You have to open the form since it is not been opened yet. On that same page, scroll up and click on Open Form. Then expand (click the + next to 2025 - Illinois) Illinois and select the Illinois Earned Income Credit
Follow these steps:
Forms mode is not available in TurboTax online. The software is opening the form however and highlighting the box that states "
However, the pink box in this case is for those that qualify for the Illinois EITC. I do not qualify, so therefore would not check the pink box. And TurboTax will not allow me to efile. If your software has a bug, then do the right thing and give me a partial refund for the time and hassle you've already caused me, and will cause me in the near future when I have to file by mail.
In case it's not clear you have once again not solved my issue four days after my original post.
Didn't change anything. Even opening that form, it already was being displayed in step 6 anyway with no pink boxes with errors. There are some other threads that mention same issue, so we're not alone. I am not ready to efile yet, but won't attempt it until this error that pops up on the state review has a satisfactory resolution, by reasonable work-around or SW update, in a reasonable timeframe. This didn't occur last year.

Why has there been no further input from one of the EXPERTS? As said, there are other threads with users with same issue as well, so not some isolated thing.
I think will provide a more detailed description of the problem being experienced by those attempting E-file IL returns.
When reviewing the State of IL form, a response (check box) for the following statement is required on the Illinois Expanded EITC Qualifications Questionnaire Smart Worksheet.
If you do not qualify for the federal EITC, but do qualify for the Illinois EITC, check this box and
complete the Illinois Expanded EITC Worksheet below.
The problem is that I do not qualify for either the Federal or Illinois EITC. So checking this box does not satisfy my tax situation and there is no other options to go past this part of the review.
Yet, checking this box is REQUIRED to continue with E-File Review.
It is just one check box, NOT a Yes/No question.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This same question is also part of the IL EIC form, so again I can not honestly check this box to satisfy my tax situation as I don't qualify for either the FED or EITC.
I experiencing this issue using Premier Desktop
I have tried the detailed solutions twice. I too cannot file until this is resolved because I do NOT qualify for the credit. TT requires that I check the box saying I qualify, even though it also reports to me that I do NOT qualify. GLITCH!

When we go to Forms mode, it indicates we need to check the box saying we qualify, even though TT instructions also says we do NOT qualify. We have to leave the Form box blank, but TT does not accept that and continues to kick that as an error it will not go past. I think I need to PRINT, write my check, REMOVE that printed form, and mail it in this year.
I am also one of the many Turbotax desktop users that cannot get past the check IL EITC box to e-file my Illinois return. I also do not qualify for the EITC and cannot check the box. This bug has continued for several days. Turbotax Support please fix this!
I just discussed this IL EITC glitch in the software with Turbotax support by phone. The rep and I went through my federal and state earned income entries, which both said that I was not entitled to the earned income tax credit, even though the EITC form claiming it keeps popping up when I try to submit my federal and state tax returns. The rep suggested I still check the box, as I did not complete the form or enter any numbers. After placing an 'x' in the EITC form box, I was able to transmit my taxes. The rep noted that my Illinois refund numbers did not change after checking the box. She believed that checking the box did not change my tax status in Illinois, and I did not claim the Illinois tax credit.
