Can anyone let me know what to do with tax paid by check for the previous year but still shown as tax owed in turbo tax?

I had to amend my tax return for 2019 in January 2020 and used turbo tax to amend it. However, since the electronic transfer window was already closed for TurboTax, I had to mail the amendment and check. But TurboTax 2019 still have the money I owe in the system and when I started 2020 return with information transferred from 2019, the tax I already paid by check is carried over to 2020 as the tax I owe . What do I do to eliminate this?

TT does not update after your return has been accepted.  Your account will always show the result of the return you prepared using the software.  TurboTax never knows if you received your refund —or how, when or even if you paid tax due.  Your proof that you paid your tax will be your own bank/credit card records.

What you describe is impossible for the federal balance due ... but the state payment could be reflected in the itemized deductions section which is correct.

@xmasbaby0thanks. I have another question other than the fine:

I had my brokerage firm to remove the excess contribution in January 2021. I received my 1099 R of $ 9100 ($6000 + $3100 taxable earning) for this distribution with code 8J and TurboTax 2020 is calculating that I need to pay 10% early withdrawal fee to the whole amount. Is this correct? I thought since it was removing excess contribution, it shouldn’t be considered early distribution.
