E-filing fee in desktop software
Did you purchase desktop software with state software included? They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose. And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state. There is an extra fee to e-file the state. You can avoid the state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.
I have paid the extra fee by credit card and it still continues to ask me for a fee to file GA state taxes! I need tech support to get this done! Turbotax has issues this year. I have Home & Business.
You say you paid $45---that was for the state software. There is also a $25 fee to e-file a state return when you use the CD/download. If you already paid that $25 fee and are having trouble then contact customer support for help. Or.....instead of paying $25 to e-file the state, print it and mail it for the cost of a stamp.

Same issue with the state of California, paid the 25.00 fee and now its asking me to pay again. Called TurboTax support escalated it and supervisor by the name of Charles said we had to pay again. Let be very clear sent Federal and state tax return paid the 25.00 fee for state e-file. Return was rejected by the Federal so it never went to the state, fixed the rejected return went in to re-send electronically and the pop-up screen to pay 25.00 again even though it never went to the state. This is a known issue with TurboTax, I have had this happen previously and they credited me the fee. This year Charles over at resolution team stated " You must pay again" this is deceptive, and incorrect the consumer will be charged (2) double for a service on original file was never rendered. TurboTax fix this known issue

If the Federal return was initially rejected, the state return automatically rejects, and you should not have to pay the $25 state efile fee again. If you paid the $25 California state efile fee twice, and it was not remedied by TurboTax Support, you can escalate your issue to the liaison in the office of the president of Intuit. They say they will usually respond in 1 business day.
The contact form and a box for explanation of your issue is here:
