Successfully mailed my Federal but Virginia requires e-file. Turbo Tax won't let me e-file Virginia this year. Says I have to e-file Federal first. Not possible. Also just completed taxes for two of my LLC's using Turbo Tax - mailed both Federals, and just e-filed both Virginias. Why am I stuck on Turbo Tax home with no option? Help please. Outta time.

Sorry, You can not efile state if you are mailing federal or before efiling federal. If you want to file state first you have to print and mail state. See,
Thanks but not possible. Virginia only accepts e-file. For the past 10 years I mailed federal and e-filed Virginia. I just mailed federal and e-filed Virginia for two LLC's. Turbo Tax cannot make me mail State when State prohibits mailing.
This is a better one, How to file state after federal

I do appreciate the help but still not accurate. If your federal hasn't been accepted, or you printed and mailed it, you won't be able to e-file your state but you can print and mail a paper return. Virginia does not accept mailed returns and for all previous Turbo Tax submissions, including this year's business, Turbo Tax halts the preparer and advises for Virginia I MUST e-file. I cannot mail in a return. Virginia won't accept it. Something's broke in Turbo Tax and it looks like I must request an extension from Virginia.
Is this for your personal return? It has been this way for a long time. Never heard of problems with Virginia. People always ask about having to efile New York. If you efiled a personal VA return and mailed federal you must have used another program than Turbo Tax. Or it might have efiled Federal too in addition to you mailing it.
Personal return and wrong on both counts. Every single year I use Turbo Tax. Every single year I mail federal and e-file Virginia. And I just did it for two LLC’s. Turbo Tax is broken.
Last year (2020) E-Filed Federal and Virginia, using TurboTax Desktop. E-filed together - NO PROBLEMS.
Now (2021), can NOT E-file Virginia. I do not understand? PLEASE HELP.
I realize most of the tax forms won't be finalized until sometime in January 2022 for Tax Year 2021.
Is this the problem?
OR, is there a change for Virginia?
PLEASE HELP.
The only VA form TurboTax states I cannot E-file is their 760-INC form which stipulates VA tax withdrawal every month from my Military Retired Pay.
This just not make any sense whatsoever - just because this is the first year such a problem has surfaced.

Again, PLEASE HELP ... PLEASE
FWIW, same problem for Deluxe DESKTOP and Premiere ONLINE
@jolove3 You are too late to e-file ANY 2020 tax return. E-filing for 2020 tax returns closed weeks ago. The only way to file any 2020 tax return now is by mail. Print it, sign it in ink and mail it in.
As for 2021 tax forms, the state forms for 2021 returns are not even ready yet. No one will be able to e-file a 2021 tax return until late January or early to mid-February. So you need to be patient and wait for everything to be ready. What are you trying to do in mid-December?
Think you’re missing the point. Just downloaded the 2021 VA forms. They plainly stated 760 = “Paper only” because 760-INT couldn’t be E-filed if your 1099 showed State tax deductions. Which mine does = Military Retired Pay.
NEVER EVER has this been true UNTIL NOW!
Can’t blame this gross Intuit error on INT form being preliminary because all the other forms are preliminary and they show E-file capability.
I give up ...
Will wait until January 15th or so and see if you're right; namely, the VA Form 760-INT for Withholding State Taxes will suddenly be "E-file capable".
As I have previously stated,
1) I called the Tax folk in Richmond VA and they plainly said that I can still E-file and simultaneously have monthly deductions to pre-pay VA taxes on my Retired Pay. TurboTax software stipulates the reason the Form 760-INT can't be E-filed is because I have $$ deducted from my Retired Pay.
I call that a 100% contradiction - but what do I know?
2) You guys in TurboTax Support say that by January 15, 2022 or so your desktop and Browser software will "suddenly" show "E-file capable". And you say the reason is because Form 760-INT is only preliminary right now ... then how come other 760 forms aren't available yet also, yet these others stipulate "E-file capable when released".
I'm old and slow, so ...
