Is it $40 now?   Last year I paid $25 I think...

For the Desktop software:

It's $40 to buy an additional state beyond the first free one for Deluxe or higher versions,  right now (though many states are not really available yet so don't try buying until mdi-late Dec, or safer...January)   Sometime around March...the price jumps usually to ~$45..

The $25 you remember is the state E-Filing fee, which was for any state e=filed..even for e-filing the free state software set.   The $25 would be for state e-filing in March..or later.  It's usually $20 until March.

I have an email receipt for the $25 fee, not sure where the email with the $40 receipt is.  I'll have to try to find it.

I want to try installing two separate copies on two machines.  I got 1 Amazon download, and one copy on disc.

Why did you buy 2 separate personal tax programs for the same tax year?

When you purchase the CD/download, you can install/download the software on multiple computers that YOU own.  Sounds like you are wasting money by purchasing the software twice.

And if you buy the CD it gives you access to download it instead.  Does one of your computers not have a CD drive?  You should just use the Download on all your computers.  Did you buy the same version?  You don't need to use different versions.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms, you just get more help in the higher versions.  So you can use a low version like Deluxe for all returns.
