My Minnesota e-file return keeps getting rejected for an issue with schedule M1CD with the following error:
To claim a new born infant:
???birth year of child must be the same as the filing tax year
???filing status must be married filing joint
To resolve the error, Turbotax says I need to go back into the Child and Dependent Care Credit section, say "yes" when asked if I want to check if I qualify for the credit, "No" on the "Licensed Family Day Care Home" screen and "yes" on the "Child Born in 2021" screen. However, this "Child Born in 2021" screen does not appear. After I check "no" on the "Licensed Family Day Care Home" screen the next page just says "You do not qualify for the Minnesota child and dependent care credit this year. I have attempted to delete the form and start over with the same results. Also, if I go to the "form" view and manually check the box on the schedule M1CD form as requested in the e-file rejection, Turbo Tax will state that the form has an error and will not let me resubmit.

We cannot determine, based on the information provided whether you qualify for the credit or not. Use the link below to see the form and the instructions for completing the form to determine whether you have answered the questions accurately to allow for the credit.
2021 MN Form and Instructions for M1CD Child and Dependent Credit
The resulting value in line 9 (part 2) of schedule M1CD is 0, so we do not qualify for the refundable credit due to our adjusted gross income. I believe that Turbotax is filling out the form properly, however my MN state e-file keeps getting rejected stating that the box at the beginning of the form for claiming a credit for a child born in 2021 must be checked. According to the instructions for a child born in 2021 on schedule M1CD, we should not be completing the worksheet for a child born in 2021 because we had child care expenses that exceeded the $3000 threshold. Based on this information I do not believe that the box at the beginning of form M1CD should be checked, but the directions provided for resolving the rejection states that the box needs to be checked. This seems to be a coding error so I am just trying to figure out how to resolve the issue to resubmit my e-file successfully.
I agree that the box should not be checked if you are not entitled to the credit.
I suggest trying to delete the form.

How do you delete it with the software? I don’t qualify and I keep getting rejected due to a computer glitch or something with my daughters name (entered correctly and looks completely fine). I go to forms -> remove sched M1CD and click remove but it just keeps reappearing immediately after.
TurboTax will re-repopulate a form if the data is coming from somewhere else @ShannonTulk, meaning if you are claiming a federal child care credit then TurboTax will move the numbers to Minnesota if you are eligible.
Try this.
I don’t have that last option. There’s just a “revisit” button that as soon as I click on it tells me I don’t qualify. I don’t see anywhere else on the state return questions to say no to anything dependent care wise.
It is a good idea to first clear your cache and cookies - which means removing all of the temporary programs that can gum up your web browser. If that doesn't work, try using a different web browser.

You are probably better off having someone walk through the return with you to look at your entries so I recommend getting live expert help.

However, that requires upgrading your product which may be an expense you don't want. In that case you can call an expert and ask questions over the phone.

Was this issue ever resolved? If so, how did you resolve it? I spent over an hour on the phone with turbotax help with no success. Was being transferred and the call cut off.
Not by TurboTax. I gave up on them even though I already paid extra to efile my state return. The people on the phone line were useless with my Costco software program version. It was extremely disappointing. Ended up printing it off and mailing it in. Didn’t make any changes to it or anything from what I was trying to efile and the state took it and gave me my refund a few weeks later.
